For a “ not how to video “ I’d say that was pretty well informative mate , Nice one , lovin the improvised tools too . Bet Mrs Cactus is well pleased she’s got you to keep costs down on her bike servicing LOL .

thanks mate!- yep she's happy! to be fair she swapped a bike service for a full house clean so i'm equally as happy!!

Thanks for that JC , This'll be my go-to guide when fitting new springs and seals , well detailed , straightforward tutorial . It's those homemade tools that really finish the job . Good to see you back with a vengeance , quick fire sump replacement , ignition coils , pick up coil testing , and fork strip down and reassembly . Glad you got that other stuff sorted , no other way to say it , but you're misfortune can only ever be a good thing for us ;-) Keep it up mate .

@@johnnycactus0 Hi JC , Hope all's well mate . Just about to give the Bonny forks some tlc and wondered what weight fork oil you used for Jen's forks ? Cheers .

@@DC-gy5jn hey buddy! I put stock 10w in Jens but went with 15w in the Bonnie /America mutant as I'd lowered the front.👍👍

Thanks for sharing. I was really anxious about rebuilding my Trophy forks, but now have confidence to do it properly.

It's nice that you showed the internals laid out. It's hard to get a good idea of how the dampening works on a motorcycle fork leg.

It’s funny back in the day we used to fit gaiters for an MOT so you didn’t have to change the fork seals hahahahah!

Spot on Ian good to see it done without all the seal drivers and gizmos that us mere mortals don't happen to have lying around, although my cheapo 12 volt impact driver usually does the bottom bolts if everything else is still in place (except on my old GPz 750 that had welded itself in !! ) peace and love to you both ✌❤

hell yeah-!! whatevers lying about!!! - after i went all posh and got the fork oil tool i couldn't afford an impact driver....!!! ha ha ha!!

Great to see the job done properly. Whilst I'm not averse to removing the damper bolt with an impact gun, I do like to see them done back up to the torque spec and not just rammed in with thread lock and the impact.
@johnnycactus06 жыл бұрын
thanks buddy!- i guess it's more down to my skinflint ways over the years- threaded bar and three nuts has always been cheaper than an impact gun!!- although removal would be quicker with one!

Hi Johnny, nice job on the seals with no expensive tools! No need for them so i see! Question about the bike's mirror's. i've been looking a while now for underbar mounted mirror's for my bonnie SE. But haven't found any? Where did you get those en how do they mount? i assume not on the original mirror mounts? And is it not an issue for hitting the tank when the steering is on full lock? @johnnycactus06 жыл бұрын
Hi mate- those mirrors are on a t100 so on the 1" bar version so bolt through the clamp. they were a pair i have had for years in the spares box!! my se i used bar end mirrors- see this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZeYdZWoqr2NiKc at 17 mins. depends on the angle and type of bars you have as to whether they hit the tank....i had to experiment a bit with the se.

Great little video! Well done bud. Excellent idea to show a breakdown of the suspension in a laid out form! In fact I think it's the first time I've seen anyone do it. Question: Why doesn't anyone (or very few people from what I've seen) undo the damper allen bolts (at the bottom of the shock) whilst the shocks are on the bike in the clamps? I don't mean completely undo them but more 'crack them open' then nip them up again hand tight? Thanks
@johnnycactus05 жыл бұрын
Cheers buddy! thank you- as for the damper bolts- you could quickly see if they were going to free up whilst in situ on the bike- more often than not I know i'm going to have to hold the damper rod with some sort of homemade tool so it's just as easy to strip them on the bench with all the oil out.
