I have fitted this exhaust to my 08 Scrambler EFI and found that the heatshields are not sufficient to prevent the exhaust from burning through my trousers. As a solution I wrapped a section of the pipes in exhast tape, that did the trick and looks good. The system also pops and bangs on the overrun a little more than I like but it's on for years now and it's staying put.

I had considered that in the event it's a problem, although the rider of this bike is a fair way shorter than you, and you'll find if you seal all the joints with heat proof silicone it will reduce popping by about 80%... although most people quite like it!

@@Moonfleet41 Thanks for the rapid reply Del, yes I've gone down the heatproof sealant route but the popping remains, it's not a huge problem though and I'm happy to live with it. May I take this opportunity to thank you for your excellent assistance over the years. From a complete novice I have gained the confidence to carry out dozens of jobs on my bike, even re-building brake calipers, changing lines, electrics etc. All thanks to your brilliant, engaging and entertaining instruction. Well done and please keep going.

Besides the subject matter, the great result and all the usual reasons for my enthusiasm, it's great to see a return of the narrated tutorial in the vein of your older Simple Skills episodes. I only speak for myself, or course, but I do not feel like you are teaching me to suck eggs (an expression I was not familiar with until I heard you use it). What a beautiful looking exhaust ! Great tutorial as well. Love the tip about using the little sharpie marks to make sure everything stays snugged up like it should. That tip would be valuable for exhaust work on any type vehicle. Obviously the exhaust note minus the baffle was Penny-approved. 😁 thanks Del and Penny for such great stuff. Hey buddy, you're dead right, style is always a trade off of convenience and aesthetics, it'll be higher than it is now, but not factory level, a trimmed down seat upholstery will help to retain a secure foot hold with the floor at stops!

That’s certainly is different!! Only thing I am deaf but I can feel the sound effects on my phone speaker. Never seen spring type holder … heatproof silicone??!! That’s unheard of… I probably could use that in few heat applications…. Pretty Kwel video!!

Nice, got same but had to weld the slide in header mounts solid as they were a poor fit...its not british, its asian or indian made ,and a bit of a slack fit imo,but under half price of anything else... tec recomend u dont run without baffles as it fecks the silencer, so i just halfed the length on mine,,, but lovely, well made ( for the price) pipe, spoiled by the lines of it not following the bike right ( like an arrow one )

I rode it with the factory exhaust that stuck out, high level, about 5" further to the right and it was liveable but a bit hot... notice how this tucks snug in to the engine real tight and will be well clear of my leg by comparision... any hot spots can always be wrapped! PP

Del, I don't know if your that good (witch you are )and make everything look easy or there a lot of editing ,,LOL,,I did my 2009 indian last year went from 2 into 1 to true duels what a pain to install took 7 hours and a few wrenches flew across the barn,, wish I would have known about the copper nut tho would not want to do it again ,,,

You can also put when he calls "copper slip" (anti-seize) on the nuts to achieve the same effect. I learned that one from him years ago.

I always prefer to be quieter, discreet, I've always thought it's dumb to warn the guy with the speed camera that you're coming! And I've a police friend who dodged a ticket 'cos the speed trap turned off his camera to save battery, then Fred fires past in his lexus hybrid. The lexus was known so he received a phone call later on

You are correct sir. I live in a desert climate in central California. High exhaust bikes are brutal in the summer months, especially sitting at a red light. My Scrambler really put out some heat albeit great in the winter.

My man I have a electrical related question if you run a LED headlight and you want to swap for something retro like a lightbulb do you need to add resistant to the wires?

You add a resistor when you swap to LED, because the LED draws MUCH less power than a standard light bulb, and the ECU may not like it, depending on the system. (CANBUS systems are able to adjust to the voltage requirement, and not throw an error.) If your bike is LED from the factory, it may not have enough power in the system for a standard light bulb, but if it does, you shouldn't have to add anything. But, I'd maybe ask at the dealer, or a specialist in your specific bike to make sure.

Johnny, I think the word you're looking for is a " incandescent " bulb. I want to say, RESPECTFULLY, that I believe your thinking is backwards. The L.E.D. will have LESS of a current draw than the incandescent bulb, so adding a resistor would be counterproductive. The opposite would hold true, especially for turn signals or blinkers, going FROM incandescent to L.E.D. I hope this helps Sir. T.S. RACING

Or test out the current that the LED are pulling, and match the current for the new module, but is there something that I can add to the current in the system? Like a voltage or A booster

Looks like it will be a fun modification. I’ve run aftermarket exhausts on all my bikes. Not for power but for the fact that the sound my bike makes is one of the funnest aspects of riding for me.

One of the first things I did with my Scrambler 1200XC was apply their tail tidy; a well-engineered part and easy to install (I knew I'd never revert back to the ridiculous extended license plate "tail" and opted to cut the part that came on my bike, rather than pay the extra for one pre-cut to be included in their kit).
