I test rode one of these for the shop I go to to do a bit of advertising for them. I have the 865 Thruxton, not exactly a sport bike. And frankly, I never rode a sport bike until I test rode the 765. Boy did I fall in love with that bike. It's a quality bike for sure. Nimble, responsive, quick, sounds good, feels good, is good. I was most impressed with the braking. Going from a single disc to a dual disc was a revelation. Quality, catchy, and quite a funny review! Much enjoyed! Cheers!✌️

I've had an RS for just over a year now. I got the gloss metallic black one which I still prefer having seen the more recent colour schemes. I weigh 11 stone and I found the default suspension settings too firm. I watched a video by a guy called Tony Moss who looked at this bike and gave some recommended settings for it - I followed his advice and now it is still firm but not, as you say, a "bucking bronco" so I'm really happy with that. It's a really easy job to change the settings by the way - Ohlins make it quite easy. I've not experienced any issues with the quickshifter and neutrals although, in my opinion, it's not the best quickshifter out there so I tend to to just feather the clutch going up unless I'm going mental. I've put a tail-tidy, radiator guard and passenger footrest blanking plates on it (Evotech) but haven't bothered with a pipe. I don't like really noisy bikes and the Trumpet already sounds good enough without upsetting all the neighbours.

Hi Rick, thanks for the info, interesting stuff re suspension and Dave Moss, I shall look into it definitely! I currently have an R&G rad guard, tail tidy, an array of bobbins and sliders, I have an exhaust on the way, I'm hoping it's noisy. My neighbours are awful so I'm not too bothered about them 😂

Hi Kate, I have taken all the preload out of the front forks, turned fully clockwise until it won’t go any more, and set the compression and rebound to the soft setting listed in the book. On the rear I have adjusted the preload so only 3 of the threads are showing counting from the top, and I have the compression on 27 clicks, and the rebound on 16 clicks, anticlockwise. I weigh 68kg and on those settings it is a lot better, not getting bucked off in those lumpy corners. Have a play with your suspension or there are professionals that can set it up for your weight. If you go to a professional, ensure you test ride the bike before you leave, and request a soft setting for the road. I have put 3500 on my RS, brand new March 2019, I was so annoyed with the suspension I seriously considered getting rid, however, after playing about myself with the suspension, I am 90% happier. Good luck!,

Nicely put together. I've got 745miles on my RS and honestly, I'm in love. I agree the start up process does seem a tad long, but you know, there is so much tech on this bike, it's probably half the reason why. Hey, you never know, Triumph may give us a firmware upgrade soon and quicken the process. Jesus, that is odd to say. :) Whilst I'm on positives, that triple soundtrack when you give it some beans is just the best sound. I can't get enough of it. Quiet-ish on idle, but you can't have everything. I don't want to pay 6-700 for a new pipe, I'd rather spend that money elsewhere. I'm not overly happy about the clutch lever. I find it closer to the firm side to keep pressed in at times. I demo'd the CB and CBR650R before I purchased the RS and those levers really spoilt me, sooo light. Bar end mirrors are unhelpful for me too, I have to be careful getting out the garage between our car and the bins!!!!! Such as bar end mirrors though hey, they look great and don't give you a picture of your arms when riding. I bought white too, black didn't show the detail for me, but still, the bike is an absolute stunner.

Great bike. I bought the R version as I found it pulls better low down which I thought was more useful for my road riding than the bit extra the RS had up top at about 11,000rpm. I didn’t notice the suspension being much different between them to be honest. They are both set up for sporting riding out the box. I just added the quickshifter and heated grips. No issues starting the bike. Fires up immediately every time. I never use kill switch though. But the Street in all forms is a great bike I think. Best engine for me.
@UsernameKate5 жыл бұрын
Yea! I believe the peak power kicks off at lower rpm on the R. I do love a torquey bike. @mikehale73935 жыл бұрын
Had my street triple RS for over 2 years now and being a lightweight at around 65Kg I found the supension was stiff compared to my old Yamaha MT09. The RS suspension is fully adjustable and the manual has instructions for adjusting the suspension for race normal and soft. The other thing I found was that the stock Pirelli Corsa tyres have a very stiff carcase which is why you are getting thrown about when banked over on bumpy corners. So the other thing I did was replace them with Metzler roadtech 01 sports touring tyres. If this does not soften up the ride you could adjust the pre-load settings but specialist tools are required so you may want to take it to a shop and get them to do that.

Hi Kate. Did you consider the Speed Triple before buying the Street? I've demo'd both and can't make my mind up which I prefer, Street.....lighter and more flickable but with less torque; or Speed.....heavier but still very agile and with great gobs of torque and imo more road presence.
@UsernameKate5 жыл бұрын
Hi Boy, I never test rode the Speed, I didnt need to. The Street suits my situation perfectly, cheaper to insure, cheaper to buy, lighter for me to push around my garage unaided and ample power for my needs. As much a it would be nice to have a quickshifter and autoblipper, and a sexual single sided swing arm, these are things I can live without ✌ Flip a coin to decide which one to go for, because your gut will know if it's the right choice for you and you'll either agree with the result, or change it 😂

@@UsernameKate Thanks for the detailed reply Kate. The coin flip experiment led to me deciding on the Speed.....or maybe the Superduke .......oh bloody 'ell :/

Hey thanks! I use a Go Pro 3+ (you can use any with an external mic port) and a purple panda mic that cost £10 on Amazon (though I think they've gone up in price now) 👍

Can i bother you with a further question as i was thinking the exactly the same thing as Maxi. Where do you have the camera mounted, chin or chest as it look a lower (and nicer) view of the road than some.

I wouldn't know how to chose between this and the 790 to be honest. If I had the funds, I'd probably have both. Looking at getting a 390 for now though. Enjoy this absolutely fantastic bike that you have. Would you consider a slip on for it? I quite like the sounds of the SC project for this bike. Here in India, we are nutters for inline 4 bikes, but, personally, I feel that small singles, middle weight twins and triples are where the best fun for road biking can be had. Regarding the suspension, what is the setting you are on? Have you considered dialling it into the softest setting? If I do decide to jump one segment higher, then this is something that I would look at very carefully between the KTM and Triumph. That is why I ask.
@UsernameKate5 жыл бұрын
The choice was easy for me. The reason I didnt get the 790nwas because I jumped on it, expecting to love it more than my 690 Duke, and I just didnt. It wasn't what I wanted. I needed it to blow me away and it didnt. So I turned my attention to other middle weights and this won. I have an exhaust on the way, all will be revealed soon :) Also, with regards to suspension, i thought some small adjustments would be enough, it isn't. I will put it on the softest settings and see how I get on! 👍🏻

Nice review UK and loving the exhaust sound. I have the same issue on my Ducati Supersport S between 5-6 you have to give it a decent whack otherwise you’ll hit neutral at high revs, it sure wakes you up. Btw did you ever consider the a Duk Supersport ?
@8PK4Life84 жыл бұрын
Hi Kate, fellow white '19 RS owner (and Lancastrian) here! Just put 1000 miles on mine, my first bike. Bloody love it! I also get neutral a fair amount, but I take it as a nice quirk as the rest of the bike is superb :) keep up the good work. Oh, do you get brake squeal?
