I had some air still in the system no matter how hard I tried to purge, laying over on its side etc. Makes a gurgle sound when cooling but the temperature works fine. One of the hardest to solve on the servicing side. Good job all the same

Yup. Same for me. A tiny bit of air in there. But bikes runs perfectly fine :)

My 2021 Tiger 850 came with Triumph HD4X HOAT coolant and that's the coolant specified in the manual. Literature elsewhere on the net says it's a rebranded Finol HD4X coolant that is phosphate and amine-free but contains silicates, borates and nitrites (unlike the usual NAP-free chemistries in most HOAT & OAT coolants). Lately however I found out that Triumph is discontinuing the use of the HD4X, switching to the Triumph D2035 which is an OAT type coolant. And they cannot mix, requiring the entire cooling system to be completely flushed with distilled water to get rid of every last trace of the HD4X before refilling with the D2035. I wonder why they made this decision to switch...

Do you have to remove the fuel tank, or is there enough room to raise the tank with hoses attached to change the coolant?
@eazyontwowheels2 ай бұрын
You might be able to get away with not removing the tank fully
@tartrek872 ай бұрын
@@eazyontwowheels I actually changed my coolant yesterday, I raised the tank up without disconnecting and it worked quite well. I removed the breather vent on the right side, but looking back, it wasn't necessary. With gas tank attached, you can fill the radiator and then run the bike. As it's running the level will keep going down, keep adding coolant to keep the levels up, I had a lot of air bubbles coming up. No air in the radiator

Hello! I enjoy watching your Triumph videos. I myself ride the Tiger 1200 XCA, so it's almost the same motorcycle. I want to do more maintenance on my bike like you do. However, I'm having trouble finding the service manual. Where did you get yours?

Triumph charges a small monthly subscription fee to access the service manuals online here: triumphtechnicalinformation.com/ What I did was pay for 1 month and download the manual page by page and saved it as a pdf on my computer. It’s a long, tedious process but you can cancel the subscription after 1 month. 🤫😁

Hi Bro, I am using Tiger 1200, 2012 model. I plan to use a new coolant Iced Cool by RockOil. Is it a good coolant? Based on my reading, its perform well.

Reviews look good bro. And it uses OAT technology, so it can be used safely on your triumph tiger. Go for it bro 👍🏽

Well common sense would dictate, if we forget the service manual for a second, and rely on physics, the air in any closed circuit water system will always migrate to the highest point. With that in mind all we would have to do is get the radiator cap to be the highest point of the system in order to bleed all the air. If we parked the bike at a 20 degree uphill angle and leaned it toward the right side by 20 degrees the rad cap would almost certainly be the highest point of the circuit. Then fill the rad, put the cap on and run the bike for 30 seconds, take the cap off, fill it again, cap on and run for 30 seconds etc etc until all the air had been bled out of the rad. This way the tank could also stay on. I know this because I have removed the left rad side covers and rad cap to visually check my coolant level before. Might have to use a squeegy bottle with a pipe into it in order to get the coolant into the rad. Official Triumph coolant comes premixed in the bottle, so just drill a 5.5mm hole in the cap and feed a 6mm polyurethane or silicone pipe through the cap into the bottle and squeeze the coolant into the rad. Only down side to this exercise I can see is that it will almost certainly require 2 people to perform unless someone can figure out a way to keep the bike at that angle while getting on and off it to open the rad cap and top up the rad each time.
