Triumph TR7 BBC RAC 1979

Triumph TR7 in the RAC Rally 1979. mostly other cars but at 3.30 TR7 overtaken by Vauxhall Chevette - at 8.40 view of SJW 546S

Back in 1979, I thought this was a daring overtake shown at 03:30 but since having got a licence and rallied myself, and bearing in mind that these are two 100% professional drivers, I'm inclined to think Per is actually letting Pentti past (which the rules say you should do!) with minimum loss of time for himself

I was there too ! It was so exciting being on that corner when the Chevette overtook. Remember it so well. I was standing next to the cameraman

I'd say the tr7 V8 let the vauxhall chavette pass .... Don't you just love these motors the fiat 131 , wicked

Lampredi Twin Cam . 2000cc mechanical fuel injection. Or Webbers . Also the rally ones were mainly fibre glass light as fk . Amazing cars

The TR7V8 let the other through, not the first time I’ve seen such a manoeuvre. The title says TR7, blink and you’ll miss it.

TR7 let him pass, delieratle went wide to leave room. As much good sportsmanship on the TR as skill by the chevette

TR7 V8 was quicker in a straight line than that Chevette. See how it closed on it.
