Lovely review and the size is what I am guided to as another aging biker (68 yrs). Regarding swinging a leg over the seat, I have found it better to put my left foot on the foot peg and use that left leg to raise my body easily over the seat. I totally agree with your assertion that torque is a better measure of an engine's performance than horsepower - torque gives you acceleration, whereas horsepower gives you speed. It is for that reason that I went for a Speed Twin: it has 83 lb/ft or 112 Nm of torque for phenomenal acceleration, and the 96 bhp is plenty good enough for real world speeds.
@RocketMan_Moto3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, Peter. I tried the Speed Twin and loved that engine, wow! I was finding it difficult to justify the RRP, however, and then the Trident came out of nowhere at almost half the price. You can only get the A2 version in Australia? A bit strange... None of the options I ordered was available on delivery, so I can't comment on the Bluetooth module. I also went with the quickshifter and USB charger, but I've cancelled the flyscreen and tank protector. I think there are more elegant solutions :)
@RajeshSurendra3 жыл бұрын
@@RocketMan_Moto Yes, unfortunately AU get only a A2 version with 54 PS max power with a 59 Nm torque @ 5k rpm. Bluetooth connectivity would be a good option avoiding any need for after market phone holders. Thanks for the idea of a scratch guard sheet 😃

Thanks a lot for the great video. Question: Why would you pick the Trident 660 or the Honda CB650r over the other? Thanks a lot.
@RocketMan_Moto3 жыл бұрын
I did think of the Honda, but you usually have to rev the nuts off a 4-cylinder to access the power, and that's not my style :)

Damn... I had decided already for a second hand speed twin. and now you garbled everything again. Agree that the rear bags might kill it... but if you have to go to Sagres and spend the night or a weekend in Évora... that tiny bag won't cut it. Great video!

Sorry to mess up your plans, lol. I was looking at a new Speed Twin, but couldn't justify the price for such an 'ordinary' machine. Then the Trident showed up at nearly half the price, so I went with that. I agree with the luggage problem! :)

I like the Silver but not so keen on the red inserts, is there anyway of changing them out for black ones off the other models?

I know what you mean, Rob. I like the red rear, quite like the rad cowls, but the front mudguard is too much. You could always swap them out with the black ones from the other colour Tridents. Or wait for the inevitable CF accessories that the aftermarket will be offering soon ;)

I think we'll all have to see what the reality of the promise is, but given that the actual service requirements are 10K OR EVERY 12 MONTHS, I suspect 95% of owners will be taking their bikes in annually anyway.

@@RocketMan_Moto I've yet to see one in the flesh, but being polite, to me it looks like a bobber rear end grafted onto a naked street bike. In a word, "incongruous". And I hadn't noticed the silver headlight screws - attention to detail is everything!

Hey Rocket Man, Great video. Waiting for this bike to be released in India. Can you please share details of ground clearance? Indian roads are filled with potholes and humps. Hence, bikes like Street Triple always tend to scrape their bottom part due to low ground clearance (130mm)
@RocketMan_Moto3 жыл бұрын
I haven't got any figures, I'm afraid. We don't really have to worry too much about the road surfaces in western Europe. However, I can say that the foot pegs are relatively high. The big Euro 5 exhaust underneath may be a problem for you, though :)

Congratulations. Beautiful. Nice quick first owner's review of the Trident. The silver does pop in the sun in all the videos. You mentioned something about the clutch not being as light as you expected it to be. The trident is supposed to have a slip and assist clutch if i'm not mistaken. Would you consider the weight of the clutch to be a deal breaker?
@RocketMan_Moto3 жыл бұрын
Not a deal breaker, but I've got 'big, strong hands'. It might be an issue for a woman rider??

If the feel of the clutch lever is due to friction in the cable, try teflon (or "PTFE") coated cable! Also try re-routing the cable to maximize bend radii and reduce the number of bends. Both mods together *radically eased* the clutch pull on an English bike I had.
