Late to the party here. I too have a 2017 Trophy SE. I've got about 36K miles on mine. I agree with every point you made. I did change the windshield on mine to V Stream unit but other than that, it's been very good to me. Another point to make is the 10K service interval. It's a great bike for anyone who enjoys the ability to travel long distances at fairly high speed. Excellent review you made.

@@WindyTherapy The V Stream is great. I've been on sport touring bikes for a long time and most didn't offer enough upper body protection. I knew the stock one was pretty small so I made that a must change item. I really like the V Stream. I can just see over it if I sit really straight but normally I look through the upper part. I had to get used to that. After all these miles, I wouldn't go back to a stock one. Sad that the bike was dropped from the lineup. I really think it was and still is the best all around sport touring bike on the market. Ride safe there man.

Thanks a lot for this video, you summed it up just as a wanted to hear. I had a Bmw r1200rt from 12', last year changed for a Triumph Tiger 1050 07', but i want to come back again to these luxury tourers because the comfort and this particular type is way much better looking then the air cooled RT's. The seat height is interesting, I'm 184cm tall and my Tiger 1050 feels much taller then the RT was. I think Triumph wanted to make a model just as good as the BMW but without expensive maintenance costs. And because i love the inline triple engine's rev range i will choose the Trophy. Thank again! :)

I had a 1996 triumph Daytona. It's the bike I loved the most. This is a far better bike and is better in every way apart from the styling. Shaft drive, comfort and solid, reliable, a true bargain. Yes even my 900 Daytona was economical at below 5000rpm gentle on the throttle. The engines are a 🍑 torquey too, very robust and under rated. Great build quality like the 800 tiger which will last over 150000 miles with regular oil changes. The brakes and handling is out of this world and the fuel consumption is great especially on a long run and far better than the Yamaha 600 Fazer.

Agreed on the seat height. I have a 2017 also. I'm 5' 9" and I immediately bought the Heated Low seat and had the chassis lowered about an inch and that solved the whole problem. Surprisingly, the seat, although it looks comfortable, does tend to wear on the butt. Extra padding is probably the cheapest solution. Center stand.....I just took mine off and that saves weight too. Other than that, best bike I've ever had, for it's purpose. No issues. Shaft drive. My favorite feature is the adjustable electronic windshield. So easy to adjust for bugs, rain, temperature etc. The hard bags are cavernous. I find the electronic adjustments "busy" to work with, but for the most part, when they are set, I don't need to mess with much after. She goes like the dickens and sips fuel if you don't push too hard. Thanks for the review.

@@WindyTherapy Happy New Year also. A couple other observations. The more I see others review this bike, and compare to it's rivals, makes me feel lucky that I bought it. Over all it seems to click all the right buttons. It's sad they discontinued it over here. I have some theories of why. Anyway, like you said the wind and elements protection is second to none. The integrated mirrors which are tremendous for protection are, at the same time, not my favorite for rear view functionality. Definitely not a deal breaker ( I can live with it ), but I don't find them ideal for rear view. Again, about the seat. If I had to judge my favorite all time comfortable seat, it would be the Triumph Thunderbird Commander ( 2014 ) seat which I had previous to the Trophy. Two totally different bikes and purposes, but that seat with the lumbar support ( oh heaven to cruise on all day. ) Just a couple more thoughts for the audience. Both bikes are very reliable. A strong testament to Triumph refinement and quality control. Well, keep up the great work Windy, and keep it between the lines. : ) I'm haling from Vermont, USA fyi.

I recently sold my 2014 and I've already decided I'm going to have to buy another one.Addressing the seat issue,I have a personally 10k mile tested one. Mr. Ed's custom seats in Albany Oregon . I learned about him from a GS rider who does iron butt rides. The guy gets your height, weight and usage and does a custom rebuild on your stock seat. Then re-covers it just like stock. I've done 900+ miles days on mine and can attest to its comfort.Only other mod I did was a V-Stream windshield so I could cruise at high speed without air pushing on the back of my helmet.

I keep looking on the Trophy's seat height and it seems to vary wildly between 780 and 820mm. I ride a Pan European and it is about 790/800 so I don't think a Trophy is much different. If you are used to riding big bikes, you are used to riding big bikes, regardless of your height.

I hear you but shorter people have a harder time moving the bike around, standing by traffic lights or holding if it starts tipping. (But you’re right, once the wheels start turning the size of the bike doesn’t matter)

When I got mine someone already lowered it. The first change I made was to go back to stock height because I was scraping hard parts too early. The next thing I had to do was a full exhaust and a piggy back fuel controller. Aside from that, leg room was a little tight so crash bars and forward pegs were a must. Great review on a great bike. 6 ft here also.

As far as parts, manufacturers have to provide spare parts at least for 10 years after they stop manufacturing a particular model. (Same with cars and trucks) So .... we have few more years to worry about but it is something that is on the back of my mine. The engine, break and transmission aren't an issue as they the same as the Tiger. T The main issue will be the Tupperware, turn indicators, headlight, tail light and some other specific components. Sadly ... I dropped mine twice 😬 and got some scuffs and cracked the RHS front turn signal lense so I need to fix in the near future. All in all it is still a great bike !

#1 thing I hate about my trophy is how hard it is to find accessories/parts. Since it’s discontinued. Been trying to get a top box for a while now.

Hi Daniel ! That's also true ! Very few aftermarket accessories are available hence we are stuck with OEM stuff. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers, Eddie

What turned me away from this bike was the valve check schedule, it's insane on a bike meant for long distance touring. And it's not like the valves are accessible like on a Moto Guzzi or BMW...
@WindyTherapy7 ай бұрын
I hear you but honestly after 50,000 it hasn't been an issue for me. I was looking into the BMW RT but it was double the price and requires premium gas if I am not mistaken.

@@WindyTherapy Used BMWs are very attractive (you can easily find an R1200RT for 6000$CAD with electronic suspensions, etc), but their problem is that with high mileage, your risk of needing a new drive shaft or clutch or ABS sensor increases drastically and it will cost you thousands to have it done. What I like about the BMW is that the valves take all of 5 minutes to get to. Yamaha have had 40000km+ valve check schedules for probably over 2 decades...this should be the minimum requirement for all brands. The valves on my DR are every 12000km, but people rarely ride 5-600km a day on a DR like you would on a touring machine, and its a 45 minute job.

I was just done selling my Honda ST1300. Was just about to bite on the Triumph trophy. Completely disappointed with the engine noise, for a sports touring bike.
@WindyTherapy Жыл бұрын
Yes, the sound wont turn any heads nor is exciting for most riders. (for me coming from a loud cruiser, I truly enjoy its stealth mode mainly during long trips) . Having said that, some folks install an aftermarket exhaust to improve the performance and to get a mean sound so it can be solved with a small investment. 🙌

Have you tired the Air Hawk seat yet? TommyG likes his. Oh wait..is that the inflatable seat you are talking about that you already have?

Yeah I heard lots of great reviews about the Air Hawk but I ended up buying a cheaper alternative that works well for 1/4 of the price tag. (I am sure the #AirHawk would be better but my butt doesnt deserve it ! ) LOL

Hello Bill, the TTSE has a bit bigger engine so it is 1225 cc (just enough to beat the BMW 1200 RT)
