Since the water metro is becoming a hit, the government should consider creating a tourism extension of the water metro. Bigger vessels with cabins for inland navigation should be built and used for "backwater cruises", covering tourism hot spots all along this canal. Additionally the government could come up with a pvt./ pub. participation. The government could come up with the necessary infrastructure and private players could come up with the vessels and operate them just like normal cruise lines that sail the seven seas. But standards and specifications of these vessels (structure) & operational standards should be stipulated by the government. Further, people with waterfront properties should be permitted to come up with floating accommodation for tourists all along this canal i.e. house boats that are stationary and these should be marketed through the internet (again specifications and standards as before). This could probably circumvent the construction restrictions brought about due to the CRZ regulations.
