Very interesting video and very informative. This would definitely be a good video to view to find out the interesting processing method of waste water when processed by the treatment plant. I love this video, I can perhaps watch it over and over and still find it interesting and entertaining.

elmamon26, if you are studying for the B wastewater you need to have your rules and regs memorized and go over the finer points of extended aeration process in detail. Record keeping is a big part of the test and laboratory procedures also. Be able to read a pump curve and also make sure your math skills are good. You will almost certainly get questions on oxidation ditches and have to convert a volume of treatment into acre-feet. questions about facultative bacteria also. Good Luck!!!

I've visited a place like this one before. What goes upon this is that at the end of the tour, we were even given a sample of the cleaned water to taste.

mrrshotshot, I'm not certain what my license grade is equal to in Cal., your first license in Texas is a 'D' and the highest is an 'A'. I am working on my 'B' water license and studying for my 'A' wastewater license. The 'A' water or wastewater test requires written essays and a LOT of studying.

Has excrement disintegrated before entering the treatment plant? Or is that filtered in some way?

you seem smart: i have a question about Phosphorus. they said Phosphorus is a "poisonous" element in the nitrogen family. why do food that we humans eat have Phosphorus then? the FDA approves it as consumable? why? I've eaten Phosphorus before. its in the oatmeal i eat in packages. thanks if you can help me understand this confusion.

In case you're wondering, I hold a class B wastewater license in the state of Texas, 13 years experience in the industry, I'm currently a water district board representative for a private company. Europe depends on too many chemicals to treat their wastewater if this plant is a true representation of the norms there. We tend to avoid adding too many chems, they end up in the drinking water sooner or later. I need to make a video.

maybe they don't do that in Sydney...or perhaps Australia at all?

NH3 is mandated to be less than 3 mg/l in my plant. Biochemical Oxygen Demand is so low that fish swim in the effluent of my facility. Here's the process; remove the plastic waste and grease that the microorganisms can't treat, aerate the basins at 2 to 4 mg/l oxygen, employ a settling tank to draw off the sludge and chlorinate/dechlor your final effluent. Low BOD, low TSS, very, very clean. The water is almost drinkable, so clean you want to swim in it in the summer. 6mg/l oxy at outfall.

Cant humanity shitt outside like the old times? This seems highly destructive to our environment. If elimination took place outside at least the the cold and heat would destroy it very quickly! It would save alot of money and most importantly the environment too!
