I feel like I've learned so much from Nadezda just from this 30 minutes... She's increadible, she is really an Artist! Unfortunately I don't have such people around me, but it's so great to have this opportunity to watch and listen all these interesting thoughts from the Internet! I will think about her and her artistic way for some time, she opened so much for me

I want to like this series but echoing others comments on the camera angles. It's great to hear the artist's thoughts and cool to see their eyes light up, their expressions as they describe something, their hands as they flip through their sketchbook and point at things... but WHY would you purposefully put their artwork out of focus when you do show it on camera?! The obscuring of the artwork feels worse in this video than usual which is a shame because I hadn't heard of Nadezda before and was attracted to the thumbnail art. Instead, the video puts most of the drawings in focus for only a second or two before drifting away, blurring it... Why avoid her art and show her ring a hundred times? The interview might as well be a podcast at this point. Shot I did appreciate is 17:13 where camera STAYED on her drawing and zoomed in more so you can see the pencil and erase marks as she describes using a kneaded eraser. The shots on the next drawing she talks about are good too including 17:55 where you can see close up how the mark she's talking about contrasts to the texture in the rest of her drawing.
@rinlehtisaari64194 жыл бұрын
this! yeah utilized the closeups for showing what they are talking about about or to show details of the art of the person. i dont need to see the Staedtler marker in and out of focus. Unless they are a sponsor I guess? just seems to be done excessively. takes me away from the story. Do not get me wrong i love this series. i love anything with artists showing they sketches and talking about the process... the camera work on this (yes i know it is AN ART as well... but this isn't about you... its about them.) takes away from the artists storey. Just keep them to a minimum. Also, share the artists website, IG or whatever they have in the notes or at the end of the video.

I want to like this video series but I'm not sure why I want to see sketches, off axis, with limited depth of field so that I can't tell whats happening beyond the tiny focal point. I get to see 1/4 of her face at a time, then random jewelery, etc. Are you filming an interview or learning to aim your camera? You have a camera with a large aperture. We get it. Don't let that hide the art.

People have been complaining about their camera work from the very start of the series and yet they keep dragging this stupid filming manner from one vid to another. My only guess is that their cameraman is a recent film school grad who is trying to stuff everything he learned during that time into every video he's filming. There's nothing bad with changing angles, focusing on someone's face or jewelry, but doing it once every few minutes, then focusing back on the sketches (filmed clearly, without "artsy" effects). Turning the whole sketchbook video into an art-house project is absolutely unnecessary.

She's an incredible artist and her sketchbooks are a joy to look at. But that filming format is a nightmare. Nadezda is a very beautiful woman, and yet the cameraman manages to pick the most unflattering and unnecessary angles, as if on purpose. And I don't even want to talk about videos with other artists who aren't as good looking - some looked like a reel from a body horror movie. These are artists, not models ffs (tbh not every model will look good with that camerawork either) - show them some respect and film them at a proper distance, as well as their work (the constant dof effects are nauseating). There are so many ways to show their wonderful smiles and character without focusing on how many pimples there are on their foreheads...

agreed about the female figure being beautifully captured but at the same time it shouldn't be an excuse to not draw multiple subjects as well, Being a well rounded artist has many benefits to you AND the artists imagination and visual library. I see a trend lately with artist just drawing one gender while not drawing anything else., yea I believe this one draws many subjects around the world. Yes it fine to draw everyday but to truly grow as an artist you really need to reach higher and like a tree, branch out further, furthering your skill set and library. Also imo, ball point pen, every artist should use, especially Young artists.. it highly promotes self confidence as permanence. A skilled artist can always bend the permanent mark. She explains all this beautifully. I can't hit the like button enough...Although I wish she would have taken that last sketch further, but maybe for her it was "finished".

Guys, I love your videos. And this was great, but less close-up. Like way less. Like don't even take the camera off the tripod for showing the artist. I'm pretty sure I speak for (most) everyone that these videos would be a million times better if you just shot it with top-down and classic interview-style (3/4 view) shots. The experimental editing makes it kind of hard to watch.

Seeing unfortunate patterns with NON-STOP giggling (so annoying), and WAY too many quick cuts of extreme facial closeups...With terrible, blurry shots of the SKETCHES. I guess what I’m really saying is that the filming of these mostly sucks. I’d much rather be able to focus on each artist’s WORK-rather than be distracted by pretentious, clueless CAMERA work.

I'm glad your camera person is showing more restraint but I still hate this format. You get such amazing artists but just ruin it by trying to be "artsy" with the camera work. Not many places show you actual sketchbooks of artists. I want to see the sketchbook and HEAR the artist talk. Skewed angles, closeup of jewelry and noses/lips/eyes/etc do nothing but ruin what could be such and unbelievable channel.
