LEECIE was a burgeoning model on Sydney's tattoo modelling scene when an accident at work in 2016 left her with a spinal injury. Suddenly, she was faced with a "revolving door of problems", as her injury affected her mobility and she turned to food as a coping mechanism. The vicious cycle Leecie found herself in led to her rapidly gaining weight, reaching over 300lbs at her heaviest. However, brands started noticing her on social media and, before she knew it, she was making a name for herself as a plus-size model. Leecie never quite felt comfortable though - "Coming into the spotlight in a body that didn't feel like my own was quite jarring" - and when she went on holiday with her mum and saw herself in the photos from their trip, that was the wake-up call that motivated her to make wholesale lifestyle changes when she got home. Leecie immediately went to see her GP, who agreed that she needed to lose weight for the sake of her health and she was referred to a bariatric surgeon. After having surgery, she joined a gym and developed a healthy exercise and food routine with expert help from a PT and nutritionist. Incredibly, she cut her weight in half, dropping from 140kg to 70kg. Since then, she's received judgement from many in the plus-size community, who felt betrayed by her weight loss - and while she understands their rejection of her, that hasn't stopped her showcasing her new look to inspire others whilst also just enjoying her new lease of life: "It's given me a whole sense of confidence, I realise how strong I am as a person now."

Good for her. She faced her demons, and won. Those people didn’t like it, because misery loves company. People want easy and to be told they’re all perfect these days. No one is perfect. Striving is what makes us better, not just accepting.

@@savannahpaige3670 nobody said she looked bad fat. It doesn’t matter how she looked what matters is she’s healthy now. Most people don’t like that because a lot of people don’t have discipline and want everything easy. So no she wasn’t fine before but she is better now because she did the work which is so inspiring.

We now live in a society where if something undesirable is hard to fix we just have to pretend it's wonderful. Gaslight ourselves to death in some cases. There was a TV show where an obese guy got scared and wanted to take action so he wouldn't die an early death, and one woman who point blank refused to accept that being obese was unhealthy did her utmost to stop him . He could have died if he'd listened to her!

I was thinking the same. Just look at this way, those people are the weight she had to lose to feel happier. At first it feels like rejection and dislike but its not. Some people hate you so much they can't keep up and follow too. You already out beat them by loving yourself more. This should be taught and reminded that just not you change but so much does around you. Your family, friends, eating, hobbies and more. Maybe I will become a life coach. 😊

"People are quite happy to see you fail, but not happy to see you succeed." That is dang true, Thank you for sharing this story I'm afraid of losing weight and for all the hate i will get for being confident. I'm afraid to be happier or more outgoing than what surrounding groups of people perceive me to be. I am generally shy and introverted. I like talking to people but I don't like having full on conversations all the time, stressed out thinking about other people and remembering stories and names.. i do attempt to be friendly but I can go through cycles of persistent depression (which accompanies self hate from maybe " failing" social interaction via not making the other person happy) But I figured, you can't make everyone happy! But I am just so depressed that I've pushed everyone away because I just feel like a failure and its hard to believe what you know to be true. I think i have severe unaddressed health issues. I go to a shitty clinic, but I am making effort to see better doctors

Ask yourself this, are they paying your bills? Are they really your friends? It doesn’t sound like it as you are not having full conversations. I say join a gym, people at most gyms are friendly and want to see you succeed. There you can have frivolous conversations and hopefully find you confidence. Another suggestion find a therapist, I’m a big believer.

I'm sure she does, it would be impossible not to. But you ain't really going to see it unless she pulls at the skin. Plus she wears very tight clothes in just the right places that could cover it up. My sister in law was also my best friend, and she became so jealous of my weight loss. She kept telling me that I was too skinny, and I needed to gain weight. I don’t think a lot of people understand how bad spinal issues can turn into chronic pain and depression. I am in that cycle. I actually had surgery to lose weight fifteen years ago and I lost a fluctuating 40-70 lbs. The extra weight can leave you in so much pain. I’m glad she found the resources to help her because spinal surgery is a horrifying thought. Most surgeons want you in good shape and weighing less anyways.

@@DanaMac1977 I used to get pain medication until my car broken down and I couldn’t get to the doctor for a couple months. He then refused to prescribe me anymore. I guess part of my contract was you have to constantly get your script filled whether you need them or not. I needed them but couldn’t physically go so after years, I was off the list. I was only getting prescribed 30/mo. and would only take half if things were bad and a whole pill when unbearable. Went to pain specialist who won’t prescribe but rather wants to ablate nerves in my back. This doesn’t help my hip damage though. It’s such a disaster. I’ve been without pain relief for months now. I sit in my chair all day. I went to thrift stores two days in a row last month and I was in serious pain for three weeks from it. I just exist now. I’m hesitant to do anything that will leave me hurting. I am so sorry you have to go through this. Chronic pain should be reserved only for the evil people ! I'm overweight (size 16). What you've done is a great achievement. Being very overweight is just bad for your health. Period. I used to be in the army and then I trained a martial art for over twenty years. It was very rigorous, and I was fit but not small even so. But kidney failure which I've had most of my life finally caught up with me in the end so I can no longer train and so the weight crept up. I don't have diabetes, which is a good thing, and I am in out of hospital a fair bit, twice this month plus I've had problems with my hips (too many years sitting in dialysis chairs). You've done what's best for you. Ignore the haters; they're likely jealous and were never there for you in the first place. They obviously need cheer leaders to make them feel good about themselves. They're all in denial but it's obviously a safe place to be for them. Keep up the great work!

We're seen as the enemy if we actually do something to look better, like dieting or surgery. I get so fed up with people telling me that 'Im not being kind to myself' when I say I want to lose weight. I just tell them that dieting so I dont have to wear my 'fat' outfit to parties or spend the evening in the toilets hiding away feeling sh*t about myself IS being kind to myself! Next they'll make dieting illegal, ban gyms and plastic surgery and force us all to be overweight and miserable. I wont let anyone make me feel guilty for wanting to feel good about myself!

I'm glad I saw this! I literally had a work place injury a bit over 3 months ago and have a herniated disc it's been so horrible, so many crazy symptoms. I don't know if this girl had that or a different spinal injury but I really relate and empathise with this person the constant pain and impact of the pain to the mental health is extreme! I have been so depressed and dealing with anxiety from it all and it's effecting me doing exercise and even getting out of bed or leaving the house even though i need to be doing exercise and keep moving and walking lots everyday for recovery but when you're in extreme pain it can be difficult and easy to fall into a dark place. I am tall like her too and at my heaviest I used to weigh 100kg but before my injury i had actually lost a lot of weight and got down to 70kg which i was really happy with but i didn't do it trough exercise and still have a stomach and not strong and have a lack of core muscles, I've put on a couple more kilos since being off work and trying to recover not much like 4kgs but i don't want to fall down that dark path and comfort eat again etc and gain weight and make the issue worse so this is the wake-up call i needed. Seeing another young lady going through something similar has given me strength and motivation to try more and get more physically strong. She is absolutely beautiful! She did the right thing for herself and I'm so glad it's helped the pain.

this is sooooo similar to my situation. I was very fit all my life and a dancer full time (ballet and contemporary) I started to get random injuries very regularly and static pain in my back. I was forced to quit dancing altogether and got diagnosed with fibromyalgia and Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome as well as an MRI scan showing I had bulging discs and lumbar spine wear and tear. This meant I moved less and gained weight over an 8 year period. As I gained, my pain became worse and worse and I am now not able to walk unaided and cannot work due to disability. I have to use a wheelchair to get around. I'm now 24stone and 5 foot 8. I don't even eat that terribly, I don't eat super healthy but not terribly but because I do not move around a lot, and I have a very slow metabolism, I keep gaining weight. Ive now also been told I have fatty liver. I started Weight Watchers last week and have already lost 7 pounds. I'm also on a weighting list for specialist weight management, I'm so hopeful I will loose the weight and get my life back this time!!!

@@WWrsa I can tell you at least a couple. Severe hypoglycemia. Trouble getting enough water or protein in and hair loss from that. Chronic low vitamin levels even with the massive amounts taken in bariatric vitamins. There are a lot of risks with it. The question becomes how much do those risks outweigh the results, some people will never be able to lose the weight on their own due to other chronic health conditions and or medications, but many people can. Gastric bypass should honestly be a last resort, not the first thing people go to, which it's becoming.

I'm jealous that she kept her boobs after the weight loss. When I loose weight, the first things to go are my butt and my boobs, which are the only things I actually want to keep😂. But anyway, good for you girl! Do what's best for you. Haters gonna hate.

I wondered if she perhaps had any skin removals, but if you watch the video, most of it she seems to still have, you can mostly see it in her abdomen but the tattoos also help hide that.. She seems to be incredibly lucky with where the weight was distributed and how she carried it so that her extra skin doesn't hang down in a pouch appearance. I wish there was some real trick to it, but it depends mostly on your body, how long you were heavy, how heavy and where at. The best ways to my knowledge are to get in your collagen if possible, do resistance training, and try to fill that looser skin with some muscle to fill some of it out a little more, and then barring that, plastic surgery.

@@TimetravelingArchaeologist I'm not being hateful but I'm pretty sure she's had a tummy tuck and breast augmentation. If I was in her spot and had the money I would have done the exact same thing. She looks freaking awesome.

@@caitlinthompson7540 Oh I would as well, it's my eventual plan/goal. I don't think it's hateful at all. But I just don't think that she did because you can tell in the shots of her belly and her dressing that she hasn't had anything done to her stomach as it's still very loose, I just think the tattoo also helps in that illusion. And she doesn't appear to have children either so skin does shrink up differently after that. I myself have lost enough that even I have significantly less of an apron than I used to have, to the point of it being nearly impossible to tell unless I'm wearing tighter pants.

I think she's pretty either way but she'll probably live a lot longer being small. You need to wait until your about 70 before you can relax and eat whatever you want because the clock will be running out soon anyhow.

I'm sad to hear the rejection she experienced. I do truly love people that love themselves at any size. As a matter of fact, many people who achieve their weight loss/health goals say the advice they would give their "former selves" would be to be kind to themselves, love, & respect yourself before/during the process - and do it for a reason that is meaningful to you. What bothers me is her health was suffering significantly. Why would you not want to encourage someone to improve their quality of life? I think the answer to that question will make me sad.

I always say to women who want beauty treatment, make up, or surgery, ‘Try the gym, more bang for your buck, healthier.’ So many overweight women seek out the wrong solutions to their self esteem issues.

Their reaction is very telling-if they really were so happy with their own weight as the body positivity movement says they should, they wouldnt be jealous of someone who's now thin. Maybe if more research was put into ways to help obese people to lose weight rather than getting them to gaslight themselves into thinking its great then they might really be happy. It seems sad that the only option available to someone unhappy with their looks is to simply learn to accept it-I wonder if they ever actually really do? This reaction would suggest they dont.

It's ridiculous to bash someone for losing weight and getting healthier. This isn't the first time the fat acceptance mop attacked someone. A little while back they trolled Lizzo for a video of her on an exercise bike.🙄

This video serves as a reminder that communities that talk about ACCEPTANCE and LOVE FOR ALL, are infact the most TOXIC, INSECURE, INTOLERANT, jealous and unhealthy spaces. Fatphobia is stupid. Stay fit please. Sincerely, a woman with PCOD who has learnt how to work with her body weight by trial and error..regulating food, and exercise.

there are fat people who are okay with their weight, they can accept and handle the restrictions and downsides. if you tell them its unhealthy they wont get defensive then theres others who cant handle their weight at all but keep insisting they are fine with it, they make everything about their weight, they want people to joke and laugh with them about their weight but if you talk seriously about how unhealthy it is they get defensive. thats why this woman and other people who lose weight are getting trolled. the ones who cant accept the dangers of weight want to keep up this fake image that fatness isnt a big deal. they dont care about her health AT ALL they care more about their narrative and their bubble

Could 8 months of Ozempic/Wegovy have achieved the same results? She obviously has superior genetics and the bariatic surgery gave her the kick to effectively start her weight reduction. However bariatric surgery can experience complications at times, so a weight reduction drug could be a more conservative choice to start effective weight reduction.
