Yep, and you can pull hard on them, versus the tiny treble hook tournament like rigging.

Thanks Capt Dave, those True Troll and Mackahoos are so expensive! These can easily be made in spare time.

Off season rigging, same as off season boat maintenance

That's a nice looking rig right there. I bet the hookup ratio is pretty good

ya still get clipped by small fish: kings and spaniards. But no more than w/ a single swing treble. But like my strong arm rig, I wanted something that works foe ME. I'm not out fishing for tournament fish. And I only use cigar minnows. Next year probably going to test out bonita belly strips from Baitmasters. ''IF THERE IS A NEXT YEAR.''

That is a killer rig Dave!!

it works for me. Been tweaking it here and there for years. Although I don't do much trolling comparatively.

oui vey kosher salt, wire leader and mustads. That's a great looking rig. Basically bringing a dead bait fish back to life. Capt Dave knows what boat I've wanted for a while. When I get it , it's going to have down riggers.

they seem to be a MUST have here for me.

Hey Dave great video and rig! Thank You! How many knots does your rpms translate to? I’m guessing like 10?
@CaptDavesSportfishing3 жыл бұрын
NO IDEA. I use now my 15 Merc kicker and it's all by what my baits doing, sea conditions etc. I just remember 1200 to 1500 RPM's with my 250 and my ''troll control'' on my suzuki 250, and all the other motors I've had. Never really paid attention to actual speed over ground, I'd guess 4-5 kts. Just a reference, everyones boat could be different. But it sure ain't slow trolling live baits!! Which I can't stand! I like seeing bait schools and getting over them, now. They may not be "live baits" but I can sure cover more water faster than if I was barely making head way, with pogies. (where you ONLY guide them, not actually 'troll' them, if you want them to swim instead of spin and die.)

@@CaptDavesSportfishing i would think you are right 4-6 knots otherwise you’d wash out your bait, like trolling a ballyhoo i guess.

I was wondering if you were gonna cut the tag or twist it off of the wire like you did. I see so many guys cut it and I immediately teach them how to twist it off clean.

Could I use 40 or 50lb mono instead of wire?

Sure, I used too. But you will loose fish to clip offs.
