Hey everyone! Welcome to another video and today we're back in Zeepkist for more themed track builds! This episode the track theme is "UPDATE" because Zeepkist just got a MAJOR update with new physics, new parts, and tons of new materials! Some of the new parts include invisible walls and clip-through objects so....naturally....I made a CHEESE track! Maybe the dev should change it so instead of heaving no collission blocks. Add a check box to every block in the game and it will turn them into a no collission block version of whatever it was before :D?

Don't remove the central tunnel. Put a sign with the time and an invisible wall at the end of the tunnel.

Theme idea: Puzzle maps. Have cheeses that are hard to find, but have hints that you can solve to get a better time (like invisible blocks making a path over a pit, but they have fake shadow on the ground to show the path instead of being trial and error).

What's crazy to me is calling the map ruined because of the cheese. It like they forget you make entertainment for other people and that having a sneaky route for the others to find is ultimately more entertaining than us just watching you all drive fast for 15 minutes. It's awesome to watch skilled players be skilled, but the secret routes add an extra layer of tension to the tracks. It's always fun to see you guys win with stuff like this because it feels like you won at making the map. Like that map a while back that I think dapper made? It was the one he kept having to edit, because people were turning around into the finish. Seeing him get the win with "No one cheeses my tracks but me" was hilarious, and I thought the confusions at the slower tunnels was pretty funny too. Great track, and it made for a fun video.

@@harrybutimnot as a viewer I find watching the cheese tracks kind of Ok once in awhile, I'd rather everyone had an even playing field from the start though, at least let them know there is a cheese to find. As a player, it makes me not want to play, who really wants to play a rigged game?

@@GloveSlapnz I agree if everyone did it all the time, but it's just for the fun themed tracks they make as one offs. It's like going into a fun house and being mad at your weird reflection. If you join up on their themed tracks, you shouldn't expect something standard.

Would be interesting to stick tiny boosters that take skill to hit/reach in a track. For instance, it might take precision to get them, or getting them forces you to make a difficult recovery or something. Stick a bunch of them in there and see what ends up being the fastest route and what routes people are able to actually pull off

With this track, just had a thought. What if there was hidden points with vague hints where certain sections of the ground in front of what seemed to be a shipping container wall, actually were pass-through blocks? Dropping down just barely in time and then launching out with a burst of speed, with the only goal being not to immediately crash in the follow up obstacles with the gained speed. So a challenge short cut using the pass through blocks

Personally, I think the clip through pieces would be more interesting for fake outs, rather than cheeses. Basically, creating sections where players think they have to go straight, only to have the floor drop out from under them. That or hiding sections where the track crosses over itself or loops back for a second pass, after collecting some checkpoints, without making it obvious that's going to happen.

A thought on the invisible blocks. A setting that allows the blocks to "pop up" (show themselves) when a player gets close (range settable in block settings?) Would make a addition for some crazy tracks too.

Hidden routes are fun, but what ruins the fun a bit is that you can just look at what are people are doing as they drive. Being able to force to have other players off would be a massive boon to maps of this variety

Track idea: make a track on the ground as a map the players have to follow and then copy it up high with invisible blocks and thats where the players drive (kinda like ). Another option which i dont know if it will work is the same as the above but you have to navigate based on your shadow (the shadow is on the map and tells you where to go)

Like a 4 cheeses pizza. A bit too much cheese on them. Oh and Bacon and Cheese Hotdogs, too much cheese in them, but if it's a regular slice of Gouda on toast with some jam on top, then sure that's the perfect amount of cheese. However when it comes to games, there aren't enough cheeses.

@@livedandletdie I disagree, 4 cheese pizza is better than regular pizza. Cheese hotdogs are better than bacon and cheese hotdogs. Korean Hotdogs with only cheese are better than those that are half and half. A piece of toast needs as many slices of Gouda as it can fit. There is never enough cheese. Unless it's non-browned, cold cheese. Then even a single gram is way too much.

Yoo Kosmo, i had an idea for Zeepkies tracks if you wants to use, Remember Super Speedway in Nascar racing?,basically an oval track, but only takes the half track, so you made a straight routes and cornering bank, but put many invisible hole and boost, when they miss the boost they will got drop into hole that is having wind tunnel inside (basically makes them thinking it a cheesee way but it makes them go backwards), but there is some boost that you need to avoid because you got slope when turning, and when in straight line gives they boost as much as possible just to trick them thinkiny something fishy about track xD, when they try to slow down they will crashed xD

The general increase in hostility to dev paths is expected. It is the same thing with Happy Wheels. KZbinrs create video about game, introduce people to the game, people copy the KZbinr's preferences. Zeepkist's Bottle Run is Dev Paths and Cheese. Unless something is done... Zeepkist may end up being known as a "troll racing game" which is a mild concern. Where you spend 10 minutes in a lobby only for a dev to drop a 10 second time ruining the entire match for people who tried. The same dev who disabled photo mode. I can imagine reviews of this game getting a lot more negative as a result especially since a lot of dev paths are just free wins.

Zeepkist started off having really good potential as a good gravity racing game, fighting for efficency on turns to keep speed as high as possible. You're right that it's followed the growth of a couple of you tubers and their playstyle preferences. All multiplayer lobbies are now either really hard challenge tracks or cheese tracks. It would be nice if we could somehow balance the community and draw more racers into it for a nice mix. Sincerely, someone who was disheartened after having their winning time sniped at the end of the round by a cheese.

I can see why cheeses could make a track less fun, but I think that there are lots of ways one could make a cheese fun. The reason maps like this are so much fun is because they're scenic and challenging, so a really good cheese would still have these elements. Essentially, you want cheese, you just don't want your cheese to still be moldy! An idea for a cheese on a barge map like this would be to have a secondary track that runs over the crates and/or a track that goes under the deck--sticking to the theme, creating more areas to explore, and letting people test their skills on different routes. Even a seemingly open-world map is capable of this, although they can take forever to make. There was a game I use to play as a kid on PS2 called Test Drive Off-Road, and there were different ways you could play the game, including racing, but the maps were a lot of fun to explore with lots of places you could drive up onto! I would love to see a theme challenge based around thematics--whatever theme you wanna do (beach, boat, sky track, ect), but you have to make every possible route as scenic as possible with a requirement for at least one cheese, but it can't be moldy.

You should make a map where the start has one tiny strip of ice or something that weaves around in a big area, completely surrounded by fake cheese tunnels. People would spend ages trying to go through each one instead of trying to take the actual path. You'd have to add an afk cheese tunnel too just to prime the idea that there are cheese tunnels in everyone's mind though. As in, a tunnel directly straight from the checkpoint that they will go into the first run and have to dodge every other run.

I still don't know why they all say the cheese ruins replayability. What are the two most likely replayed games ever for speedrunning? Super Mario Bros, and Mario 64. And both of those have so much cheese in them (unintentionally) that the speedruns don't resemble actual gameplay at all. 0 star Mario 64s? Yet people still replay it. Because cheese or not, you can always try to go faster. Get the quickest route behind the starting wedge. Get in the tunnel without going sideways, etc.

Because one requires the skill and persistence of players to find unintentional shortcuts and then consistently exploit to get better and better runs, while the other is a deliberate creation that has no other purpose than to troll.

​@@lordshaitan But once the shortcuts are found, they still play them trying to shave off 1 frame rule at a time. There is no reason why you can't do the same with cheese on Zeepkist tracks. It doesn't matter if the exploit is intentional or not. To the end user, it is all the same.

@@FUGP72 But that is the point -- to the end user it isn't the same. If it is an unintentional shortcut then props go to the player who finds the way, and the skill to pull it off. In this instance its props to the map dev who intentional built in a cheat.

@@FUGP72 Also there is a huge difference between an unintentional shortcut, or an obvious skill based shortcut given to players, and an intentional shortcut that deletes out the entire map. Played a map once where the creator made two paths on their track. One easy but slow, and one extremely challenging but fast. Players don't begrudge the player who pulls off the fast path with tricks and skill.

@@lordshaitan Strongly disagree. WHY there is a skip of most of the map doesn't matter to the player at all. Unintentional or intentional, players can still play to optimize their time on the small part of the map they DO have to play. as long as there is some way to save time, there is replayability. Going back to Super Mario 64. There are INTENTIONAL skips at 70 stars where you can go straight to the final Bowser fight. And, there are several UNINTENTIONAL skips at 16, 1 and even 0 stars. Or, you can play the complete game and get 120 stars. And all of these categories get plenty of people speedrunning them. None of them care if Nintendo meant for them to do it (70 stars) or didn't (16, 1 and 0). All that matters is they are competing against others who are doing the same thing. Or they are competing against their own best time.

I've enjoyed this groups content across many games for a very long time now, but now I've been forced to start down voting their videos. The inclusion of cheese has become cancerous. They might get a chuckle out of it but they affect the culture of the game, and they fail to realise the effect on many people who skill up, try hard to find the perfect line, only to have that persistence ruined for a dev-giggle.
