@@fupalover The reason why no Byleth guide really goes over Tether Cancelling is because it's universal for every tether recovery character, so guides for tether characters don't usually cover it since it's verbatim. Joker, Samus/Dark Samus, Lucas, ZSS, The belmonts, Ivysaur, etc. Just a short rundown of what this is, any character with a tether recovery option can hold down on the control stick when the tether connects with the ledge to cancel the animation of "zipping" straight to ledge. (Holding down too early will immediately snap you to ledge like a regular tether recovery). Byleth's is one of the easier tether cancels since it's pretty obvious to see when his Up-B snaps to ledge. Joker is a little harder, only because his grappling hook is not that noticeable on certain stages, making the timing more rhythm based than reaction based.

Leo definitely right. Byleth's nair for gimping is good against characters whose recoveries suck, but it rarely gets the lightning effect itself, yeah?

12:41 is an edgeguard but not a gimp. Gimping is a low-to-mid percent off stage kill where an opponent should be able to recover but you force them into a position where they can't make it back with their recovery tools. It's like the concept in geometry where a square is a rectangle but a rectangle isn't aways a square. Gimping is a form of edgeguarding but edgeguarding is not necessarily gimping

Doesn't have to be low to mid percent, but that's the usual percentage range you see it, since higher percentages tend to result in the intended gimp hit just killing the person with knockback

Leo is 100% right about gimping lol. Gimping is whenever you hit an opponent while they are offstage and your hit doesn't directly kill them, but it makes them unable to recover therefore earning you a stock.

I feel like any kill off stage is an edge guard, but when the attack doesn't have the kill spark it's a gimp. So I think of a gimp as a type of edge guard using a weaker hit.

It’s seems like sisqui and a lot of other samus players, myself included rely too much on movement/unique movement and not guaranteed combos, kill confirms & just hard reads. Once we find a better balance between movement, combos, kill confirms and reads then samus meta will advance

Gimping is hitting someone offstage without killing them but they can't make it back so you get the kill, like Leo said. Edge guarding is when you launch someone directly into a blast zone while they're offstage.

Gimping is 100% when you have a part to play with your opponent not being able to return to stage like hitting a Ganon with no jump Some characters are almost impossible to gimp like olimar as an example but you can repeatedly hit them while trying to recover until you stage spike then or your move does enough to send them to the blast zone
