Hailing from Detroit, George came up in an environment where he was surrounded by some of the most iconic musicians in Jazz, such as Curtis Fuller, Louis Hayes, Frank Rosolino and Alice Coltrane, just to name a few. George and I covered so much in our conversation that I had to break this interview into two parts. In part one, we discuss how George went from being a self taught musician to becoming one of Detroit’s most sought after trombonists.
