Pretty sure he circular breathes at some points, you can see how his cheeks puff up a ton then slowly get smaller without taking a breath. Absolutely insane player.

While my other classmates were involved in neighbourhood gun wars ,east vs west etc..i Was involved in concert band, Jazz Band And later we the juniors started the marching band (back when we wore t shirts with our School barracuda logo😂).did this all while playing Football the real football lol⚽) ...but I miss it..jazz band especially . taught me to be a very good Swing, blues and Latin Jazz player..improv time in band class / after school practice was my favorite part 🙏🙏

Glad they brought in a New Orleans musician to play a jazz standard, even if it's shown in a popular light. One great aspect of pop music is that it can make less accessible or "outdated" music more accessible to wider audiences. The thing with Troy Andrews (Trombone Shorty) is that many would actually consider him a legitimate jazz musician, despite the several genres he crosses over into. Versatile cat

But that doesn't mean he didn't practice the living hell out of that song and knew every scale, chord change, possible note variation, and transition like the back of his hand. The best solos are often at least majority improvised, it's what gives them their energy and swagger. Pre written solos just don't have the same vibe to them.

I was working as a construction guy in a mental institute and once a week a musician came to make to most sever case to sing. To see President Obama and his lovely wife singing at the same song makes me remember when the boss of the institute catch me singing with them and start to sing with us.
