Question for you fellow youtubers: We are staying 2 full nights in Tromso. We have booked a minibus tour for the first night and a big bus tour the next night on the basis we need to maximise our chances. We are worried that we will see them on the first night and the second night will feel like a waste and we won't be able to cancel as it will be too late to cancel - what do you think?
@worthytravels3 ай бұрын
You are doing the right thing by trying to maximize your chances of seeing the aurora. If you see it on your first night I don’t think you’ll be disappointed seeing it again on the second night. We saw it every day we were in Tromsø and have been back to other places to try and see it again! Also the places you visit and the people you are with will make it enjoyable regardless. Hope you have a fantastic trip!!
@worthytravels3 ай бұрын
Should have added if you really aren’t sure about seeing it twice maybe downloading an aurora app ahead of time and looking at the possible strength of auroras when you are there and the weather you may be able to determine that you can cancel one of the days. A little risky but definitely an option.

Thanks for your comment! Glad you found the information helpful. We’ve also put together this video “Your Northern Lights Guide” which may be helpful and will answer a lot of questions you probably have. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4aQiIOEp9yhqZY We went in November but this is definitely not the only time you can go. As long as you have good weather any time over the winter months will be good. We spent 4 nights in Tromsø. The longer you can stay the more chance you have seeing of the lights. We always book all of our travel ourselves. A large portion of our costs was for the flights from San Francisco, and then we visited Bergen first before flying to Tromsø. If you find a good hotel that serves food that will help keep your costs down as eating out can be expensive. You can also determine how many trips, etc. you do based on your budget. We spent about $800 on hotels, and didn’t rent a car. So our next biggest expenses were the activities we did and internal flight costs. Hope this is helpful.

@@worthytravels thank you for the quick response. I also try to book my trips myself. I just find it more practical and also I have more control over what I would want to do. @worthytravels Жыл бұрын
Hi Teresa! If you wish to chase the Northern Lights, I would highly recommend researching about the best possible dark spots in and around Tromso and the Finnmark area before booking a car. That way, you’ll know where to go to get the best chances of seeing them. Sometimes, you may have to drive as far as Finland as well (bring your passport with you when you do decide to drive for your chase in case you have to cross the border). I also recommend booking a tour; however, they don’t necessarily always guarantee a successful trip. The nice thing about having a car is you can travel to as many places as you wish during your entire stay to increase your chances of seeing the Northern Lights. I hope this helps! :-) Happy hunting and I hope you’ll see them during your trip!

@@worthytravelshello, the video is just amazing, thank you. My dream is also seeing northern lights and well travelling to Tromso with my 6 years old kid will be quite difficult, no direct flights and very very expensive for us. But will do! You mentioned that you visited Norway in February; didnt you see the NL the times you were there in Feb? I do not mind the month to go; i just want to go whichever month has the highest chance to show NL 🎉 thanks. 😊
