My dad worked on that as a background plate photographer during the roto process for the effects. Very cool film process

Ahhhh, I soooo loved TRON back in the days and still love it today. - I personally think the magic of SF-movies made in the 70's and 80's was that they were on the threshold of unimaginable creativity of all the hand crafting on the one hand and the exciting possibilities of modern computer technologies at the beginning on the other. - Lots of this magic is lost today by using CGI just as a brute force and not as an art.

Agree. It's amazing to see what these guys were able to accomplish. So many innovations in this film and it still looks like nothing you've ever seen before. Genius!

I wish they'd made a sequel film that shows what happened to the virtual Tron world after Tron 1 but set prior to Tron Legacy because the two aesthetics are jarring, not to mention the existence of ISOs (sentient "isomorphic algorithms") that are not hinted at in Tron 1.
