Trona Pinnacles. Exploring over 500 Tufa Spires

On this adventure, I headed up the 395 with the intention of spending my three day weekend up in the Lone Pine/Alabama hills and Searless Lake area. Unfortunately, there was a severe storm that rolled in that caused massive flooding and rock slides resulting in a highway 395 road closure from Ridgecrest up to highway 190. With that changing the course of my trip, I just decided to spend two days in the Trona Pinnacles area to really explore the over 500 Tufa Spires rock formations, relax at camp and wait for a few of my friends to arrive so they can explore the area as well. This is my 4th time here which is usually a quick stopping point to take pictures on my way back from Mammoth Lakes, Alabama Hills, and even Death Valley National Park. The weekend that I went was the first week in March so it was still winterly conditions. Highs were in the mid 50s and the lows were in the high 20’s at night. Winds where in the 50 to 60 mph range most of the weekend up until the time we left. Anyways, I hope this video inspires you to get out and adventure.
