Listen to what this smart woman is saying. You cannot ask an underage performer to be in a show that is not scripted yet. You must inform young adults what the content of the show will be, or you are liable for forcing a performer to be in a production that they don’t agree with. In all professional productions, subject, and the theme are well known before preproduction begins. Drum corps should be no different. it’s a basic professional standard. Next, she points out that the secrecy around Drum corps productions is nothing more than a smoke screen to cover up a lack of preparation and to hide production development problems. The secrecy around show concepts is absolutely fake. Secrecy about your show is fraudulent- there is no justification for secrecy in marketing, in budgeting, in auditioning, in parental approval, or in artistic content. This isn’t an Agatha Christie novel.
