Lexy: I'm a displaced British citizen, well, at least that's what I call myself, of sixty years. I wish I could have claimed British citizenship to permit me to serve in Her Majesty's Grenadier Guards or Her Majesty's Royal Marines bands, both of which I saw on tour in the US back in the late 70's. If need be, I would gladly bear arms to defend the homeland of my ancestors. Please accept my gratitude that our nations are close allies and for the smashing lads from the UK, without whom the liberation of Europe wouldn't have been possible.
@gray35534 жыл бұрын
@@sirvincent7263 you can never be displaced its in your Genes my friend. Many Brits over here still look upon Americans whether Scots , Irish, Welsh or English as cousins. Take care in these bad times.

@@gray3553 And you as well, lass! The videos of this great ensemble bring a smile on my face in these times of angst and anxiety. It calms me to see the British take command of the boulevard with their victorious sound. Love the swagger the drum majors display at 9:05! The fife and drum at 4:29 takes me back to the time when I performed with the Old Ft. Snelling Fifes and Drums in St. Paul, Minnesota back in the mid-70's. It was the only time in my life I wore a redcoat as it was the tradition of the US Army back in 1825. Why are the Londoners are not falling into ranks and marching behind these massed bands? Were I there, I would not be able to resist.

in the olden days, if you were an army wife, the saying was you "followed the drum". I am a very proud 'daughter of the drum'. *This* was the music I grew up with. It's the only music I really like and get emotional about.
