Rice is press resistant but Partey has the ability to pick a quick forward pass while under pressure, which allows Odegaard to thrive much more. Rice is press resistant because he can dribble out of a press, but he is nowhere as good at picking out a forward pass under pressure. Thus he has to take an extra touch after dribbling out of the press to find players like odegaard. The extra second or two is a huge difference to how much time and space Odegaard/Saka/Trossard has on the ball, and results in more creativity from these players. I think a crucial point is that Rice's turning circle is quite wide, whereas Partey is a magician at knowing when and how to turn out of trouble. rice can't receive on the half turn and then pass it forward like Partey does, he doesn't have the hips for it. That's what make Partey such a unique and useful player...

MLS's qualities scream middle of the park. Defensively strong, press resistant, power, vision, range of passing. He's not wasted at lb because he can easily do it but arteta will not utilising all of his ability if he put MLS at LB, just put him at 8 LCM. I think he might be good competition for merino, but also MLS off the ball still just ok need more develop if arteta still want him play LB (which is so stupid) The question still has to be asked when long term we have plenty of fullbacks at the club that presumably will be here for years to come. (Obviously injuries are a factor, but I can’t see us moving on from any of Timber, Cala or White) and we clearly have gaping holes in midfield that need to be plugged. Agree “he has” to play midfield is a bit excessive, but I just feel like he has all the skills and there’s a more clear pathway in midfield (at least at the moment). but the other hand the advantage for His ability to break the press and split the lines would also still make him a great inverted LB in our system and could be a great compliment to Rice if Rice is planned to be the long term 6 because we all know rice super shite for technical ability in his passing (only play safe pass) Destined to be our inverted LB. Which wouldn't be so bad if he can claim that spot, even as 2nd to Calafiori atm, he's sound defensively so far which is an obvious plus for our left side and a great visionary/passer when he steps into MF which again is an obvious plus. Best of all though if he can claim that role would be that we have a inverted LB and inverted RB in Timber, giving us a balanced inverted MF so we don't always have to invert from one side during a game, allowing Timber to overlap Saka too which gives the opposition more to worry about. he's destined to plateau on our bench once Arteta buys a new shiny toy or Calafiori manages to put a run of games together. but that game against monaco when he setup first goal look like he will be so good play at midfield but people still want him play at LB because he can become trent at liverpool infact that trent comparison is ignorant considering his main asset is passing but he doesn't have the other necessary attributes to play in midfield like press resistant, great duel, half turn. MLS CAN BECOME OUR PARTEY BUT PLAY AT 8 BECAUSE MLS is more than just passing, he's got the awareness, press resistance, close control and strength to be a midfielder and he can to be our deep lying playmaker an He's very comfortable on the ball when pressured, doesn't rush, looks to go forward with either the dribble or pass, and is deceptively strong. Doesn't mean we shouldn't be looking to add a primo CM this summer, but being able to (hopefully) eventually replace Jorginho and Partey with MLS and Nwaneri will be a huge squad boost financially as well. also MLS He’s deceptively strong, much like Bukayo in terms of how he uses his strength to hold off opponents who are taller/bigger than him. but right now With our injury problems at LB, MLS will get much more game time than Nwaneiri and will more likely become a starter much earlier than Nwaneiri.

This means Ode and Havertz have to drop deep. Also having such a small squad means when we have injuries there isn’t decent enough cover. I think we have become predictable in the Premier League at least because too much rely on right side when build up, linked up for create chance. This team scoring 5 past Sporting and putting a good performance against Monaco doesn't seem like a personnel issue. With this being said, I think we need a replacement for Jesus, even a cheap striker like duran or alvarez at mancity both under 20m can bag goals way better than jesus or mbeumo who has price 50m from brentford. We sometimes see the players lacking in front of goal, like against Monaco and it can become frustrating. Putting up a lot of shots on target and hoping to score from those whilst defending can work against weaker teams. But the top teams will not easily fall down to this tactic, Jesus link up play is all he has now (but his linked up and build up not good enough right now because too selfish and too much lose ball in middle third and final third) & Kai can score but he is not striker because he just still learning how to become striker that is why he is not good enough for us and cannot consistent sustainable for give goal to us at epl and ucl, even kai cannot score by shooting from inside & outside box same like jesus. We need an Eduardo, RvP or even an Adebayor type of striker again who good linked up but over powerful clinical outside and inside box for scoring , someone greedy who can wont fall over when they get touched, we only rely attack on right side It stems start from the back. Penalties were another. And I think the last was breakaway counter attack goals. BUT HEY NO MATTER HOW MUCH CREATIVE OUR LEFT SIDE & RIGHT SIDE, even if our left side turn on like right side but if we still dont have ELITE LW & ELITE STRIKER who can deliver goal then all that creativity from left side will be useless that is why we need more creative player at LHS & ELITE STRIKER, also one thing important spesific for our attacker who should deliver in final third that if we have no striker (like arsenal right now) or have no good striker plus have no good LW (like arsenal right now because trossard sometime maybe good or sometimes maybe shite just good coming from the bench and only slightly better than martinelli while the other hand martinelli just regressing) who cannot score goal THEN make our chance in final third not effective because player in striker and winger position who not good deliver (put ball in the net) will need ton of chance for score only 1 goal, for example like against monaco last night & against monaco in wenger era when giroud missed many chance and when in 15/16 at that time ozil can get ton of assist plus we can win epl if giroud our striker and walcott our winger not missed a lot chance, The problem with xG (created ton of chance) is that it doesn't translate to goals if your forwards are all off of form and missing chances 'expected' to convert I think arteta is setting up the team NOT to have a primary goalscorer as crazy as that may sound, he is trying to play a defense (calafior inverted) and midfield who can move forward and can score, and forward who can drop back to support the midfield, kinda what havertz is doing right now, goals are set up to be more from set pieces, or 1-2 touches of Saka, Odegaard, Ben white, Martinelli, Gabi J, Havertz and trossard when they are fit. Timber, Cala are examples of "attacking wingback" where they are involved in goal creation all that concept so good for make us creative but the problem is our left hand side not good enough plus we dont have elite striker which make all that concept not fully 100% works (only works on right side) which because of that even Saliba and Gabi M are more involved in goal scoring, so the every player is dangerous and score. Gabi M and Saliba are scoring more than some forwards

we will buy mbeumo in january Wouldn't be against it depending on price (like 40-45m). Can play both up front and on the wing, has solid numbers (has pretty much done around mid to late 10s in terms of G/A every season in the prem, including last season where he only played about 25-ish games), is probably ok being backup and fighting for his place (for a bit anyway), is only 25 ( i know that's gonna shock some people lmao, quite a few people think he's in his 30s, i guess because of his looks). I wouldn't have minded him.

i like what Partey's doing this season but he's fallen well off compared to how he was playing in our breakout season at the same time i think rice not even close partey level as replacement even when partey prime already gone but he still better than rice overall, which mean we will need DM for partey replacement Gonna be hard to find a player that can replace his combination of composure, defensive solidity, press resistance and range of passing imo I’d say Merino but idk if he can or has done that as a 6. Rice doesn’t yet have the press resistance and types of incisive passing that Partey has, and maybe his best qualities are as an 8 anyway. Who in the market has a prime and fit Partey’s various qualities? I can’t think of many.
