Very nice set up and your ratio is perfect. Have you though of pulling the females out when holding, stripping the eggs and putting in them in one of the bubbling incubator set ups?

Happy new year to everyone...I have question about tropheus wild caught.....i have never kept a tropheus tank but i have very experience with malwi i have 4.5LX2Bx1.5H (100 gallon) tank .....i planning for tropheus wild colony I may get kiriza or red rainbow anyone of the colony I have folowing questions 1.which specie will be good to start with 2. Do wild colony look beautiful compared to other generations 3. Which would be difficult to manage with wild caught is it the water parameters or aggression or diet, please let me know how can i overcome those difficulties 4. I have plans to breed them so i will get male female ratio which ratio is perfect for breeding 5. How the decorations should be...is it better to have lot of hiding spots or no decorations or just sight line breaker

Great video and awesome tank! Are these wild caught? I have a group of 20 of these guys but they are all staying quite a bit darker in color even though the colony is successfuly breeding. Do you know what might cause them to not brighten up in color?

Thank you! Yes they are wild caught. I have found that the darker the environment the darker the Tropheus turns. Black backgrounds and dark substrate and poor lighting all play a role. Brighten the tank up and the fish will pop!

They are beautiful. What do you feed them and how often?

Thank you! I feed them Cobalt spirulina flake and Northfin veggie pellets. Once the distributor I order from gets the Northfin flake in stock I will transition them to the Northfin veggie flake with a little krill flake to keep the reds popping.

😂 Yea I can definitely relate. When tax time came around my girlfriend was shocked how I managed to spend it all on a bag of 25 fish.. She has since warmed up to the tropheus now that they are colored up and breeding.
