most underrated band and most underrated songwriter. These guys really bring new things to the table in an oversaturated pop punk genre.

well you're probably right. I doubt Trophy Eyes wanted to be labeled a genre and that's a good thing because it shows they're innovating. But pop punk is an actual genre whether you like it or not. Bands like Blink 182 and green day don't sound completely punk rock, yet they don't sound really poppy. I actually like the term pop punk because it describes the sound completely. It has the catchiness and chord structures of pop music and the speed, edge, and attitude of punk rock. Pop punk also doesn't just describe a sound but a movement. Although the sound has changed and evolved over the years, the underdog principle that started in the genre still remains so I don't feel like the term is an insult.

You are right. I just dont wanna come to terms with pop and punk being a thing. Sorry for the insult your cool.

Pop punk has been a term since the late 70's get over it, that being said I would not call Trophy Eyes pop punk.

wow if life treated me the way it treated john, I don't know if id be able to handle it. so much respect for this man. the fact that he can build on top of his devastating life experiences and turn them into beautiful and powerful story telling songs just goes to show how strong and talented john is.

John writes with such purity. I could listen to him tell stories about all of their back catalogue all day long. This is great.

People are sleeping on Trophy Eyes, they've been a brilliant band for years. Saw them so many times touring off Mend, Move On but Chemical Miracle is something else, glad to see they're finally getting some of the recognition that they fully deserve.

they’re one of the best bands in the pop punk scene right now (or whatever you’d like to call their genre) , even when they weren’t very big with only Mend, Move On out they’ve been really good at what they do, i’ve seen them live twice and hopefully a 3rd time this coming December, one of my favorite bands, all very nice guys who are wry deserving of all their success.

not too sure what Heaven Sent is about, (I think it’s about an abusive relationship or rather telling someone they don’t want a relationship) but In Return I know is about John hating/fighting with his mom in his early life when she divorced his dad and started dating shortly after & is also about John not really being there for his mom when she got MS

Heaven Sent is about promiscuity and taking advantage of his position for sex. He talked about it on that Silverstein dude's podcast.
