One of the easiest aquarium plants
Beautiful, fast growing stems
Great auxiliary plant when starting a new tank
Limnophila sessiliflora is a pretty and undemanding plant from South-East Asia. A great alternative to Cabomba, which requires a lot of light. Stems grow fast up to 40 cm tall and become 3-4 cm wide. The plant often grows leggy in poor light, but this can be counteracted to some extent by stimulating growth with CO2 addition. Most beautiful when planted in groups. In good growing conditions it sends out runners and spreads across the bottom. Cut-off shoots may be planted in the bottom layer, where they will soon form new roots and continue growing.
Limnophila sessiliflora used to be called "Ambulia''.

I have this growing in both my low tech and high tech tanks... lovely plant, and grows very fast and tall! In the low tech the distance between sections of leaf are about 10mm... very compact and dense growth and very bright green. In the high tech (co2, TNC complete, TNC carbon, home mixed macro solution, root tabs) it grows like mad! Each stem sprouts more stems from each section giving a dense bush. In this tank the tips are a nice orange/caramel colour and grow very wide leaves. Would definitely recommend this plant for any tropical application.

It actually gets leggy in high light, and grows bushy in low light - the opposite of cambomba. I tested this in my tank - I bought the bushy form from the fish shop, stuck it in my 5 gallon nano with 15W above it and DIY CO2, and lo and behold a week later I have leggy growth. Keep it in low - medium light to keep it bushy :)
