Tropical Gem is like a chop shop. They take a beautiful car take it apart and sell it for its parts. They are very competent at executing difficult intricate movement because they are mainstream trained dancers who entered a scene where at the time when they came in the scene most of the top dancers were street dancers and many had no formal dance training. So their complex moves are flashy and eye catching for an audience of untrained dancers but it is clear that they do not love Latin dance. They love other forms of dance but get their fame from using the dance to do what they really want to do which has nothing to do with Salsa. Same thing with Baila Society. On a performance stage there shouldn’t be limitations but their performances are NOT salsa dance performances. They are reviews and created more leaning towards the dance styles that they really have a liking to not Salsa dance. It’s all good until they begin to teach these practices to novice students and dancers who think what they are doing is Salsa when it’s not. And I am not referring to a natural evolution of a dance style which will innately happen because that is not what they are doing what they are doing is literally pasting other dance styles on top of Latin dance and just doing it to Salsa music. Again artistically as a performance dancer fine but not ok when you see them bastardizing social dance and instruction. This makes it extremely hard for me to have any respect for the heads of these two groups and you will see that neither have produced a legacy of leaders in the industry because they take from the dance instead of give to it to make a name for themselves because in the mainstream with other trained dancers they would not be leaders only another trained dancer. Very sad.

totally disagree...you have no idea what dance means... it means dance is DANCE and dance is evolution too... if dance remains the same then we could dance as dinosaurs did for 60.000.000 years millions years before. But on the other side it took millions of years for dinos to become that huge... So IS DANCING
