Tropical Pirate Island Hideaway - WorldPainter Timelapse | WorldPainter Minecraft 1.18.2 Map

This video is a WorldPainter timelapse of a minecraft tropical pirate island. The map was made using the WorldPainter alpha for minecraft 1.18.2, and features different points of interests like caves, coves, and rocky outcrops. Almost all of the brushes in this WorldPainter timelapse were made by me in Gaea, and are posted for download below. I really need an in-depht tutorial of WorldPainter series. I don't see many good tutorials on youtube, and the ones that exist are pretty simple and only cover the very basic steps. I really would love to learn how to create those open caves, paths, rivers, etc. And your level of map building is mind blowing so... I would watch it even if it lasted 10, 20 or 50 hours. Amazing map!

Your timelapses help a lot and are very interesting to watch, but it's hard to pick thing up because everything happens too fast hahahaha

are you in the worldpainter discord? if so, someone posted a pdf document in the tutorials section that goes over caves. it goes over the basics of making caves and tunnels like this, and it’s fairly similar to what i did here. also, lord dakr has a video on sea arches that is pretty helpful as well

Hey could you elaborate on what shaders you were using? They’re super pretty and the shaders I currently have make all water regardless of depth see-through and I really liked the way round water looked, would you care to share?

Complementary is a fully customizable shader. Even if you don't know what shader it is, you can achieve the same result with Complementary by tweaking its settings

So my question might sound a little weird but where exactly do you start in world painter? Or well, do you just jump straight into it with a somewhat vague picture in mind what you wanna build or do you usually tend to spend some time beforehand planning out what you actually want to build in detail? I've tried my hands at world painter a few times already but halfway through building a map I get somewhat frustrated as it doesn't quite add up with the picture in my head even after spending quite some time on it. I'd appreciate any help as to where to start or what you do before opening the program and start working on your maps. :)

i usually make a lot of alterations to the concept i went in with. i have an idea in mind and things i want to incorporate, but it never turns out exactly how i originally intend, so i try to be flexible and adapt as i go. but having a lot of experience with worldpainter and being familiar with my brushes does help me get closer to what i originally wanted to do, though.

I have a question: i wanna make an island inspired to Libertalia from uncharted 4 but i'm strugglin' a lot with the creation of the world base..i wanna start with a flat world of water but i don't know how to set the generation in worldpainter...even if i select the flat option i can't have the land mass coming out of the water....any tips and and general suggestions?thanks a lot and again nice job!

if you go to create a new world, there should be an option for flat world, and then also a way to adjust the level the map starts at, as well as the level the water is at. the water level should default to 62, so anything you raise over 62 will be above water
