Over halfway into the first month of the 2024 hurricane season, activity has ramped up in the Atlantic. Abnormally warm waters across portions of the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico have helped to promote prime conditions for tropical development this week, with another chance of formation forecast by late week. #tropicalstorm #gulfofmexico #hurricane #alberto #texas
AccuWeather meteorologists are closely monitoring a tropical rainstorm that is tracking into the western Gulf of Mexico. This tropical rainstorm is designated Potential Tropical Cyclone One by the National Hurricane Center and is projected to become the first named tropical storm of the Atlantic season before making landfall in northeastern Mexico early Thursday morning. If it becomes a tropical storm, it will be given the name Alberto.
