Great video. It's crazy to think that some people were minimizing this and blaming the media for getting people all worked up "about nothing". Hopefully Karma didn't visit them!
@kitbram203311 ай бұрын
Overblown this is not reality. It focuses on the washes which are designed for this and one neighborhood. Omg, no property damage, no lives lost. Get a grip
@thecrazyadventurist579611 ай бұрын
@@kitbram2033 many of the cars were totaled so there was property lost as well as the damage to the houses. While it may not be a crazy amount of damage it still is.
@dukefurst574111 ай бұрын
@@kitbram2033 You must not be familiar with the area. Towards the end of the video where heavy equipment was removing mud from between rows of trees is the rail line, which will impact the rest of the country with availability of goods.

@@fidelgarcia5683 exactly this, im from here, believe me, its overblown. There was like 2 mins of footage of the wash, which is made for capturing the water. There is damage, obviously but this is a very dramatic video. I did love to see how beautiful the desert is tho, grateful every day to see it

Ive got that covered then, Palm Springs area has 100+ of them. So I’m set. And during a tropical storm it’s not a bad idea to live near one. But not here we have 3 of them close to me but they only became a river of rushing water. I take it they design them better in La Quinta. Hahaha

A modern day example of a mud flood. Look how quickly for that much area to be covered in that amount of mud. Our human efforts can be completely covered in very short period of time.

Of the water sticks around and infiltrates -it's a good thing.

After the water and seeping is over with, they will just rebuild it again, Every winter when the rains come there are 4 areas that get closed off because water or sand is covering the roads. That's just how it is out here in the Desert
@austinharding973411 ай бұрын
amazing to see north indian canyon like that, i remember a windstorm once buried it under a 6 foot high burm of sand, but nothing at this scale

Truly amazing aftermath. As awful as it looks now, wait for about two weeks to see the desert bloom like never before. People will be flocking to see the phalanx of flowers and Butterflies. God is good....
@austinharding973411 ай бұрын
that's not gonna happen, all the seeds were washed away, the entire top 4 feet of sand an dirt were washed away, I live near here and this truly was, as was reported, a once in a lifetime event, a 100 year storm, the last one being in 1939
@wilfredofigueroa6611 ай бұрын
wow, that is so sad. Not even the Caterpillar invasion or the swarms of Butterflies? The five years I lived in Palm Springs were absolutely magical. The happiest years of my life. I believe in miracles and I will pray for the blooming of the desert.@@austinharding9734

Because of the wash and building in low lying areas, t his flooding occurred (esp. Cat, City) Water management has been poor in the Desert, however that said, we typically average 4-6" a year. This storm was not a normal event for us here in So. Cal espectially in our beloved desert communities. It averaged 5-6" in a 5 hour period, we will overcome.
@drewwho451211 ай бұрын
I was vacationing in Palm Springs before, during, and after the storm and drove on North Indian Canyon Drive a day before the rains came. To now see it washed out and covered in four feet of mud in spots along with the damaged train tracks clearly shows this was not a minor event. Where I live flooding and mud would rarely result from the same amount of rain Palm Springs got. The desert adds a whole new dimension in terms of damage from heavy rains.
