I have 4 smaller canna's I just bought. I think that I'm going to put some systemic in them and wash off with insecticidal soap and see what they do not letting them go dormant. You do so well with the caladiums I would give a canna a try.

You're welcome! The budgie is from a local garden centre, it's the 'Vivid Arts' brand. I also have the toucan. You can get them online 🌺

As always a pleasure to see your garden Hannah :) the baby's tears going mad look so awesome haha like fluffy green cushion, definitely plant more :) You can also try hanging a couple of vanda orchids under your covered veranda or under the fern trees they might like it :) but in winter they'll need to be brought inside.
@TropicalPlantAddict3 жыл бұрын
That would look nice, maybe next year 🙃🌺🌴 Thanks for watching 💚🌿

Hi Hanna, Garden is looking beautiful. Hydrangea plants like moist but well drained soil so it's a good idea to water more often if the soil dry's out to quickly. And I've read not to use fertiliser as it make the plant grow more leaf at the cost of flowers. Just mulch them in spring. 🌴
@TropicalPlantAddict3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes that's right, I try to keep them from drying out, they droop when they are thirsty. We have had a lot of rain here so haven't had to water them as much as usual. I usually fertilise them more too but this year as I mentioned in the video, I haven't bothered as much. I'm hoping the weather will be better next year 🌺
@davidbanner90013 жыл бұрын
Great video. I have a partially shaded border and another that gets full sun most of the day. What I'm trying to do is plant at least some plants/flowers that can grow in both to bring both borders together at least a little.

How about a container, a black felt pot (bag) for the spots of the bed where the soil is rubbish and you can’t dig, A bushy plant or fern would cover up the container anyways.
@TropicalPlantAddict3 жыл бұрын
I think I’m going to plant soleirolia soleirolli there next week, it’s excellent ground cover 🌴🌺 There’s not much room to put decent sized pots, I currently have a few small pots of mint in the gaps 💚

Such an inspiration!! I have taken a few tips from your lovely garden.. in particular your tiki bar, can you tell me or do a video on how you winter cover it? Winter is soon upon us Brits! Thanks
@TropicalPlantAddict3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! I just cover the bar October time with a custom-made furniture cover… You can see me taking this off in some of my other tiki bar videos from previous years. I usually bubble wrap all the ornaments and just leave them in a plastic tub with lid inside the bar 🌺

It's annoying hostas get rampaged by slugs so much. They really have a very tropical look to them and they are also one of the oldest types of plants in the world, I believe. If you like Hydrangeas; I have a Hydrangea Ruby Slippers in my garden that has somewhat palmate leaves which kind of sets it aside from most Hydrangeas. There are so many shade loving tropical style plants out there to choose from. Check out Peltoboykinia Watanabei, Begonia Grandis 'Torsa', Begonia Pedatifada Palmata, Pollia Japonica, Disporum cantoniense 'Green Giant' , Astilboides Tabularis, Tinantia pringlei and Smilacina Racemosa. Some of these also make great understory plants so are good for creating those layers.

How do you keep bugs at bay for your outdoor plants?
@TropicalPlantAddict3 жыл бұрын
I don’t really do anything to be honest. I don’t like using pesticides. I just leave nature to it 😁🌿🌺🌴
@shevonnenorman24243 жыл бұрын
@@TropicalPlantAddict Some people use a light drop of eco friendly or gentle soapy water with a drop of oil (any oil but most popular one seems to be neem) but think it affects both pests and good bugs - but if o natural works that's even better.
