Absolutely loved this...I used to fish there for grayling and trout when I was fit to do so. And some other nice places close by

Trotting a float down the river is a lovely way to fish. Well done getting out there and targeting the Grayling.

What a great video. Thanks for coming and showing off the beautiful river Clyde. I have fished it for the last 35 years. It has history like no other river. It’s a hard river to fish but the rewards can be sensational. I look forward to following your video 🎣

Really enjoyed that Video. Brought back many memories of my youth Fishing the Upper Clyde. I never did have great success for Grayling at Hyndford Bridge. I found further up stream at Carstairs, Thankerton and Abington much better for Trout, Grayling and Pike, although I am talking about 40 odd years ago plus maybe a few more!😂 Anyway, great Video and look forward to many more.

That was great. Really well presented, very personable and natural. Shame about the lack of fish, but that's the way it goes. Well done. Looking forward to the next.

Just to clarify i am in no way putting down commercials! I love my commercial fishing so much. The skill and hard work to do well at these venues is unreal. I love commercials! This is just something completely different to that type of fishing and i dont think i chose the correct wording to put that across . Thanks for watching!
@Edge-of-Reason12 күн бұрын
Commercials have their place but wild waters have a magic that is unattainable anywhere else. On top of that grayling are a species that are hard to explain. The smile they put on your face is second to none.

Nice video. It didn't matter that you didn't catch. Just a lovely way of fishing in a fantastic location. You should get up to the highlands and lure fish for some wild brown trout on the lochs or salmon on the rivers. I'm a match angler but fishing for wild fish in the highlands is completely incomparable and the thing i most enjoy doing.

Nice video on a wild looking river on a cold day. Grayling are a beautiful species and in winter, can be a challenge and are difficult to locate. Better luck next time. Even a hungry species like the chub can be difficult to tempt on a winter river, as I found today, with a lost fish on my first cast, and then two hours of tentative bites, but no fish. My local rivers will probably be flooded again by the end of this week, but there will be more lovely river days before the season ends. It wasn't a wasted afternoon. I had more than 2 hours of solitude and saw curlew calling, goosander and large flocks of lapwings and greylag geese.

Watching the pin spinning I wonder if you would be better with a heavier float so the bait stays down but slow the pin with your finger or the spring if it's got one. The heavier float will let it move slower than the current without lifting up too far from the fish. Good luck on the chub hunt. Target the crease of slower water against the main flow
@castingtotheclip5 күн бұрын
Yeah we have used heavier floats now. Definitely runs better for sure. Thank you for the info!! Fingers crossed for a Scottish chub soon

Nice video and don’t worry about not catching anything , that’s why it’s called fishing not catching 😂😂😂 most of my days result in zero to show for it but must be enjoyable or I’d have given up years ago … still a nice video ( and your audio was good too ) 👍

@ I spent £22,000 on fast fishing boat as they call them to do a bit of sea /river fishing and when you throw in fuel , launch fees etc it’s not a cheap day out , most of what ( little) I caught went back in the water and I’d probably buy a cod chips on the way home 😂😂😂 what I’m trying to say is the day out on the boat catching nothing was still a great day out 👍

Good to see women out on the rivers more and in angling in general. If an otter has worked a stretch it’s pointless fishing the rest of the day. Try soaking some casters and using them. The Grayling love them. Or white and red maggot. Good luck

@@castingtotheclip Noddy is still on kids TV, I believe. For some obscure reason, back in the 1980s, carp anglers started calling non-carp anglers "Noddies" as a derogatory term. It is still in use and I have an angling friend who christened me 'Noddy' recently after a run of blank river sessions and because I drive a small, yellow car! 🤣
@castingtotheclip11 күн бұрын
I hope this was in good faith as a lighthearted joke? I am definitely not an angler who uses an abysmally shotted float, Towel for fish care, washing line thick mono or opting for the peg closest to the car park 🤣 and i obviously do not only fish once or twice a year. What context has this been used in?

I fished the Clyde many moons ago and caught grayling by shuffling I.e. getting into a stream, digging your feet into the gravel and creating a plume of dirty water. Dropped a nymph into the water at my feet and let it drift 10’. Hard work but I couldn’t believe how effective it was. The master of grayling fishing was my friend Colin RIACH, look him up
@kennyirving48112 күн бұрын
This is illegal nowadays, especially on salmon rivers!
@789stv12 күн бұрын
Always was illegal on the Clyde ,ya bad boy. Destroys the river bed and makes it dangerous for others wading into the big fkn hole you left.😂
