So as a Florida resident im interested in how they’re going to make this work lol. Marlins Park has a retractable roof but in the winter time the absolute COLDEST it could get in south Florida is below 60 degrees, also its unpredictable when that cold spell hits so we could have a game with 70 degree weather outside which is obviously a problem. It’s not even the biggest problem tho, that would be the humidity. Florida is muggy 365 days a year whether it’s hot or cold. Anyone who watched the cup finals the last few years would notice how terrible the ice conditions were at times. Thats due to the humidity, and no it doesn’t get better when it’s cold. It’s obviously a great thing for Florida a growing hockey market but the logistics are very tricky. I would have liked if instead the NHL did something similar to what they did with Lake Tahoe a couple years ago. Invite the two Florida teams along with a couple others and Put the game in Jacksonville or Tallahassee places that relatively get cold in Florida for a while. I think it would have really saved the nhl a fair amount of headaches. Still pumped as hell tho as a lightning fan.

Once he took over the #1 Center position, he’s elevated his play since the move. I think his goal totals would speak for itself. The team is still bad, but Tage isn’t.

As a Ducks fan i'm very happy with Trouba. Traded a LD out which we still have too many of for a good tone setting physical RD defender known to be a great locker room presence. Vak while I liked him doesn't fit with the future the ducks are building, he's a bottom pairing guy and will likely remain so.

The thing about Rangers - it's like their last year to have a legit shot at the Cup as one of the main favorites. After this year the core will get another year older (and a lot of them are already on the wrong side of 30) plus they'll start paying Shesterkin. They need to do something to either have the best shot possible this year or to ensure their future favorite status, or ideally both.

Staios had a press conference similar to that earlier this year and I think he handled it a little better. He identified it as lacking 'maturity' (which I think most Sens fans would agree with) and that the solution needed to come from the players in the room. Ottawa's situation is similar in that they have underperfomed the results that would be suggested by their expected goals. But yeah, you don't want to say the team has been good when the results have been bad for so long. You need to at least identify something you think is wrong and how it should be fixed, even if you arent going to fix it.

Is there a world where this hole Truba situation, and to a lesser extent Goodrow's too, leads to the PA demanding the waiver system be revamped waiver to prohibit teams in a player's no-trade list from picking up that player? Maybe, but I doubt the owners would ever sign off on that. Either way, that's the only way I can see of fixing the NTC and waivers, without leading to player's only signing if they get NMC

In my opinion, if you want a no move, negotiate to get a no move, otherwise with a no trade, there is some risk. There would be a price to be paid to get the extra protection. At the end of the day, the team was looking to offload the player for nothing, which is rarely a great move for your organization to walk away from an asset you sign at high value.

He has to build through the draft and he has to build the core that way prior to getting complimentary pieces. He is doing it the right way. He isn’t big name hunting like Dorion did in his final seasons with Ottawa. Yes the Sabres have missed the playoffs 13 years straight, but he is in year 4 of taking over a dumpster fire. The reporter asking to spend to the cap is also a dick. It’s a catch 22. If he did offer like a $6M contract to like a Foligno type the media would be saying ‘why can’t you spend the money properly?’ KA also doesn’t work for the fans, he works for the owners and he had to deal with the whole Jack Eichel thing as soon as he was hired. You guys talked about Trouba and even mentioned that he had played in Winnipeg, but you did not analyze the trade closer. When Trouba made it known to the Jets that he wanted to move on, he was in the last year of his contract and would have been a UFA if they did not do anything. So Kevin Cheveldayoff traded Trouba to the Rangers for Neil Pionk. Check out how much the Jets are paying Pionk and how many points he got for the Jets so far this year and last season too, then compare that to Trouba. At the time of the trade to the Rangers, the best it looked was at least the Jets got something out of nothing, but now look at the numbers. Over and over, Kevin Cheveldayoff proves himself way ahead of the pack.
