@@scuffmacgillicutty7509 (a) Moving after the fart is over doesn't evade the splash, (b) assuming no ambient wind the particles remain in place at the point of emission, so moving UP just prolongs the exposure. They would be better off standing still, but even then there is the threat of residual afterfarts. Getting in front of the threat is the best strategy, which also provides you the opportunity for a retaliatory fart. One of these days somebody is going to do that to Derek, and it will be glorious. Then we will get to see if Derek is all fart, no shit.

Yes, they can and often do expel fecal matter, but any particulates would be caught in the underwear and/or pants and not become airborne, at least not by any amount that would be more than the "ambient" particulates already floating in the air. That being said, I agree getting in front of the farter is generally a good strategy to avoid or get away from the stink as quickly as possible.
