You guys are too kind with your words. The universe definitely aligned for me - very grateful to have shared that last stretch with your both. I remember how freezing wet and cold it was - forgot about those winds until I watched this. Thank you for a memorable experience and these videos are just an extra added bonus. Ride safe and enjoy the rest of your epic adventure!

Wow! I like how you said “if you’re a decent rider, you can do it”. Even on a Schwin, you can do it! This was a good one. “The bottle of life!

Eagle Plains have a spray washer that they will let riders use when it is muddy out but looks like you were collecting mud continually. My 1200 Multistrada just threw mud straight into the rad. It was a poor design and for some reason mine came from the factory without the fender extender. The BMW GSA has one of the best protection systems for the rad. I have a protective rad guard but also have another temporary grill in front that collects the mud and is easy to remove and clean. I carry two of them. Nice ride. Funny you missed the Arctic Sign on the way up, but The Dempster is committing and requires constant attention. One minute you are in the groove and a split second later it could be a rut. I have done the ride 3.5 times, one time (the 0.5) we got snowed out just past Eagle Plains, Good you had comms so you could let the back rider know of trouble areas.

Unfortunately I didn't know about the jet wash at Eagle Plains otherwise we'd have used it. The 690 did well with the mud but at you can see the 790 suffered badly. This is a common problem that plagues them off road in bad conditions. As you say the Dempster requires 100% attention as it'll bite you when you take your eyes off it. It deserves the respect you must give it.

Enjoying this ride up North!! I was on a guided tour of the Yukon/Alaska this past summer and we did the Dempster as far North as Eagle Plains. Myself and a few friends are returning next summer to finish it all the way to Tuk! Looks like you had an adventure so far! Can’t wait to watch the rest

Thanks, it certainly has been an adventure so far. Watching this back as I edit it has brought the memories flooding back. What are the tours up that part of the world? How many of you on them?

@@ReelRidersPodcast thanks… 100%…. I’m learning all the time how to use the software and what I need to do to make a better edit. It’s funny because I sat here right now discussing what I don’t like about what I’ve filmed and edited. Also what I would like and what I want to achieve. I have some ideas that I will start doing when I leave Baja in two weeks time. Until then I have to make use of what content I’ve got and do my best with it. I’m quite excited to see if I can think more like a film maker/editor and give my films a better more dynamic interesting look.. I know it’s just ideas and talk but hopefully I can pull it off …

@@demon_rides Through the process of editing, you become a better camera operator/director. You learn what shots you need. In general, it usually means having to take a lot more, different types of shots to comply with the visual language of cinema that we've all grown up with and accept as "natural". But it's actually not natural... it's just a convention we've grown up with.

@@ReelRidersPodcast completely. I have found when I'm caught up in the moment of moving finding food water a place to sleep etc the last thing on my mind is capturing what's going on let alone thinking about the shots I would need to capture to even tell a story. I suppose as I've not set out primarily to make a film it's not the aim of the journey but more a bi product of what I'm doing. I'm also learning that most people aren't that interested in the mundane things that is my everyday life on the road. I must admit parts of the edit I'm quite enjoying then there times when the content isn't great that I do struggle. I'm sure as I learn to capture the right stuff then it'll become a more enjoyable process. I have to remind myself I was a professional motorcyclist for all my life and this is a new skill set I'm learning through trial and a error.

@@demon_rides So many of my guests talk about the lengthy process of "trial and error". It takes a lot of practice and a lot of time for that trial and error. Yeah, you have to make sure the film-making doesn't get in the way of the trip, which is why you are there. Don't be afraid to leave the boring parts out. Be clear about: am I making something that is engaging to watch, versus something that is fully documenting my trip?

@@bebeonhisbike I whole heartedly disagree. The KTM is an awesome bike, just in this situation the calcium chloride that’s used on the Dempster Highway to bind the gravel together sets hard. This affects many bikes on the Dempster and Dalton Highway.
