I have tried everything in this video, I looked through the comment and couldn't find other fixes other users tried like profiles and such in the documents. I have been spending at least 3 hours now to figure out how to fix this. It ridiculous I am paying 150$ for a mw2 update pretty much just to not work... I refunded it once already due to game not even working, and I decided to give them another chance, but no they just slap me and tell me to f*ck off. I have just solved my issue. I had windows 11 installed on unsupported hardware. I tried since the beta started to play to no avail, I have just installed windows 10 and tried playing and it plays with no issue now.

I reinstalled twice, it starts but when i click on MW3 from the ingame menu it crashes and then wants me to start in safe mode and that doesnt work either. I'm giving up hope. Thanks.

Somehow changing files and making it to think its validating worked for only launching the game. But when I do so, it gives me the HUENEME- NEGEV error. Perfect.

Just in case this did not work for any of you make sure to uninstall ReWASD because I assume that Activision sees it as a cheat and that prevents the game from running. I did this and I was struggling with this issue for a while.

I just cant play cod. I tried all these fixes. About 30 other things too. Nothing works. I start up, I can watch the entire cutscenes in full, then it crashes on the first load, the part with retrieving data. If I skip the cutscenes it crashes in the same spot. The game is so fucking broken. Ill never buy another one, thats for sure.

By the way, if you have tried all these methods and they didnt work, consider loading optimised bios values ( factory reset bios) overclocking does cause this issue too. Especially any changes to the cpu cache speed. I spent 3 days trying to get it to work after 2 windows fresh installs i just reset the bios to default and it worked. Specs: i9 12900kf 4070ti 32gb 6000mhz cl30 Z790 carbon.

To anyone stuck on the "checking for update" screen, the only "immediate" fix I have found that genuinely works everytime is just waiting. It's taken between 5 and 10 minutes of waiting on the checking for update screen, then it will eventually say "update requires restart" and you should be good to go.

We have two identically same built PCs here. One of them runs the game without any crash issue and without this hocus-pocus. The other one is a nightmare. I always do the sfc /scannow that never found any corrupted file on the hard drive but the game always crashing. The only option is that the files basically corrupted in the pack that the Activision/Steam send us.

I just figured it out for my pc!!!!! I have tried all of these solutions. How i did it was i changed the drive that my call of duty was installed on. I canged it from my C drive to my F: drive which is a crappy old hard drive. I have 3 SSD's in my computer and i tried to have call of duty downloaded on to each of them and it didnt work. I tried everything in the book to get this to work. NOTE!!! my issue was that call of duty would try to start and 10 seconds later would close. I wouldn't get a error message or any sort of screen, no new scrren or blackscreen or anythings like that. Try using a new hardrive it could even be a large flash drive or very old HDD if you are having this issue. the hdd i tried to install it on was a last resort is a corrupted and old hard drive and guess what, it works!

0:28 here you state that the graphics card should be up to date, but when in try to download anything the highest driver I can get is 512.78 I am on windows 10 and have an NVIDIA driver.

I've done just about everything I could to fix this issue but nothing works. Game will start and load I get to the menu where it's "pre loading shaders" And everything gets super choppy and then the game just force closes itself. No other game does this, only mwIII. For me the game wasn’t launching, I even installed new windows and updated all drivers and tried all solutions but didn’t work, what worked for me was that I enabled Avx(virtualization) in my bios (youtube it for your motherboard company)

FOR THOSE WHO STILL HAVE ISSUES: i found out that my startup crashes were caused because MW3 wouldn't accept the particular drive I had it on. I went to steam settings/storage, and moved it to a different drive and it worked. (the drive that had the issue was a 4tb inland M.2 and the drive that worked was a 2tb samsung.)

I Have found the solution. open the options.mw3 settings on players folder on documents. change Fulscreen to Windowed option. just search for it and your game will work now. remember to always set it to windowed mode each time you disconnect from the game
