It's sad that you guys couldn't go to Lukla. Weather's always unpredictable over there and it maybe dangerous too. But Langtang is a really beautiful place too. I have done the Everest trek 4 times. I have always taken the bus to Jeri and walked into but taking a private vehicle to somewhere must closer to Lukla is now much easier. On this occasion, I did the Annapurna circuit for the first time and it was a wonderful experience. Alas having just come back from Nepal the weather at this time of wear is very wet and I understand why the locals don't recommend trekking at this time.

It is never a wise option to plan for Everest during the monsoon, with all the flight cancellation and delays, It's not just about reaching Lukla but you also have to consider how you are going to come back from Lukla, you can get stuck there for a week or more if the weather does not clear up. Having a clear weather also matters for flight to Lukla because it is one of the most dangerous airport in the world for takeoff and landing, so they can't take any chances with weather. They need perfect weather condition there unlike other airports.

Sorry you missed your flight but the Langtang trek is awesome! The ride to Syapru Besi is the bumpiest ride I ever traveled. However, it is well worth it! The people are so friendly in Nepal. That trip opened my eyes to a different part of the world. I learned the difference between a western toilet and Nepali toilet. Any way enjoy your travels. Just remember “Dal Bhat Power..24 Hour”.
