Growing up in Jamaica it was hard not to feel less than when men would tell you they don’t find you attractive because of the amount of pigmentation in your skin. ‘You are so pretty for a black girl’! I can’t tell you how many times I heard that. You smile but deep down you know it’s an insult! Then I moved to a foreign country where people tell me everyday how they loved my skin tone, how gorgeous I was, then I start to believe it. I see beautiful dark skin woman everyday, and I started seeing their beauty too. I’m 44 years old now and I’m so happy I got the chance to love and appreciate my skin tone. I’ve never seen a bleaching cream but I know for a fact, IF I was still living in Jamaica, I probably would have because it’s hard hearing you don’t appeal to a mate because, ‘your skin is just not the right tone 😮’!
