My trigger is totally jammed, the light comes on but the trigger cannot be moved AT ALL! So I have power, the cogs move fine inside (manually moved) but seems there is an electrical jam locking the trigger! Can't even unlock the lock button (must be the issue).

Well I had a go at mine and found the switch was at fault. My multi meter told me so. I seem to remember it went off a few time last use but sliding the switch a few time got me to finish the job and I forgot about it.! Now if your switch plays up you may be able to open it and if it is like mine you'll see how dirty it can be. But be careful when you're opening it There may be little part of which spring and bearing ball; you don't want to loose that! You may also find some carbon deposit on the metal contact, to be clean. to put it back together you may have parts that will not stay in place... I put a little bit of grease to stick the ball on the spring and it did the trick (my JS is a bosh and has a slide switch). As for starting it open I did this too as it is so much work assembling it again just to test. And I got the same result...In retrospective I should have remove the "jig' part that it seems to be the one loose and flies out! My JS now is purring like a contented kitten so all is well... for the time being!

+gary whelton With out looking at it, it sounds like the start winding in the motor went out or maybe bearings starting to lock up. There usually is a start winding to go from a dead stop to get speed and then the run winding takes over and keeps it going. Hopefully this is enough info to get you started. Best of luck!

+RevtosTV It could also be that the contacts are dirty or corroded and the brushes can't supply enough power to get it to start turning...

gary whelton often times the motor inside is burned and if the motor is burned then don't bother trying to repair it plus if you plug it into the wall when it isn't working and you could actually run the risk of setting your house on fire because a malfunctioned jigsaw could spit out sparks and burst into flames that is why when a jigsaw stops working it's very dangerous to leave it plugged into the wall after it stops working

@@travisgulley2652 I totally agree, do not, i repeat do not try and plug a battery powered malfunctioning device into a wall outlet, luckily i've never heard of anyone adding a plug to a battery powered item in their troubleshooting process!

I say no. I would but only if I had to but it is very dangerous and I am kinda reckless, so I would again say no

Contrary to you, my first check would be the power cord, then the brushes, and only then the switch. :) By the way, brushes are devices allowing electric continuity between a static piece and a rotating one. Just saying...

If you take apart a jigsaw and you see that the copper coil in the motor is black then that will usually tell you that the motor is burned up and then you have no choice but to throw it away and buy a new jigsaw because if the motor is burned up then your jigsaw is totaled beyond repair also repairing a jigsaw is not recommended and is very dangerous and can catch your house on fire because usually when a jigsaw malfunctions and stops working it can spit out sparks and burst into flames and set your house on fire so remember when power tools stop working it's actually very dangerous to plug em in and try to get them working again and also repairing them is at your own risk and no one on the internet is to be held responsible if you burn your house down trying to fix a jigsaw

I appreciate your comment but I have worked on electric motors for a long time and haven't seen any spitting sparks or burst into fire. I guess the possibility of that can exist with motors or anything electrical but usually when motor windings (the copper coil you referred to) get burned up they can either short to ground and overamp which should trip the breaker, which I have rarely seen or usually just do nothing because the circuit is now not complete. This is why the windings are made so thin, so they will burn up and melt instead of arching and causing a fire. If catching fire was what should have happened, it would have happened well before the jigsaw case was open and while it was in use. Also if it was a common occurrence that when motor windings burn up they would start fires then every house and business would have burned down by now because they all have many, many motors in them and at some point they all will fail. Any time you open up an electrical device or are messing with electricity it is VERY dangerous and you need to know what you are doing. This is why it is not recommended for most people, because most people do not understand electricity and they shouldn't try to fix electrical devices. They should call someone who knows what they are doing, specifically an insured professional.

if I did not have my own trouble making video I'd be very critical of this one. Still why did you not cut the wire higher to test your switch and I don't think starting it all open and unsecured was a thing to show us. you could always rejoin the wire later if it still did not work but then how would you know the switch was not ok as well?. Then . I don''t think I'd like to share my mistakes or spent so much time trying to do something not going my way instead to get on with what should be done. Although I disagree with someone who said you should start with the brushes, If the switch does not work what the point? I cleaned the rotor and checked the brush on mine to no avail a part for a brief noise that probably was my JS's last sacrements. Thanks for sharing anyway
