Troubleshooting a Spinning Pin during EMF Ball Joint Install

Once in a while we get a tech question with regards to the pin in the ball joint spinning when they are trying to use the install nut or nylock to set the Upper Ball Joint into the knuckle. Sometimes it's just due to the nut having a damaged thread or the nylon in the nylock nut being stiff. Here is a handy little tip to help get you on your way.

Installed my EMF joints last month, had this issue on just one of the joints...quick phone call to EMF and as always they had a simple solution. As you can see in the video. I wanted to say a BIG thank you to these folks. Great product and great support...if you need ball joints for your ride, spend the smart money and get a pair of EMF!

That's a pretty good sulotion, I just struggled with it a couple of week ago but I ended up running the nut over another bolt just to kinda start the treads in the nylon and it worked perfect but I would do it this way next time.

For those who are watching this video trying to figure out way your lower ball joint is spinning. Open up your upper and remove the nut you put in there!

When in doubt read the directions! I did the same thing to mine and had to bust out directions to figure it out.

What if the bottom pin spins withe nylock ? I just tore down my ‘01 Dodge 2500 Dana 60 knuckle and tried putting these in. The top went in perfectly. The pin spins on the bottom BJ though. I’ll call tomorrow. These things are stout and I can’t wait to do the other side. The install tools are quality products too! These make even the heavy duty parts store BJ’s look like junk
