Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, was taken into custody and charged with federal gun crimes stemming from the Sept. 15 incident at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. Routh appeared in federal court on Monday for a detention hearing and was ordered to remain in jail without bond as he awaits trial on the gun charges. He has not yet entered a formal plea."

Well Mar-a-Lago is technically a secure place. Being a resort for the wealthy, it's got lots of security as is. The Secret Service probably felt they didn't need to go the extra mile other than a simple perimeter sweep. And they were right. They actually saw the guy without needing any special equipment.

The Secret Service is responsible for perimeter security. There should be surveillance of the extent of the golf club boundaries. Since the availability of surveillance cameras a screening room would ease the need for Secret Service agents to occupy those posts unless they are hit with a power outage. Ana is missing the point. Yes ultimately the SS got the guy before Trump was fired at, but the point is that the would-be assassin should have never been allowed to sit in his position for 12 HOURS, and was only detected minutes before he would have had a clear shot at Trump. They caught him, but the lack of security in the area to allow for him to remain in the area for so many hours undetected is what amounts to a massive failure on the part of the SS. Also keep in mind that with such sloppy work, all it will take are a few more attempts, and failure to sweep areas correctly and set up a proper perimeter will ultimately lead to someone succeeding. The SS is pathetic.
