I have to say as a fellow Floridian, and outdoorsman, the most impressive thing about this channel is how you can do so many outdoor and southern lifestyle things without trying to be so brash and confrontational about it. ( regardless of your beliefs ) you never bring up politics, you don’t feel the dying need to wave a Dixie flag everywhere you go, and you don’t jokingly bash vegans liberals or anyone else who disagree with your lifestyle. I wish more people could show the peaceful side of being an outdoorsman like you do so well on this channel. GREAT CHANNEL!!

I'm from California. I've been watching your channel now for about 2 months maybe. Give or take a few weeks. Anyway, the pure motivation and values, along with character has set such an example in my life. I wanna be some where in the vicinity of successful fortune as you and your family. I've created several meals for my family just based of the simple but rich principles that you have showed me through the sharing of your videos. I pray 1 day to meet you and hopefully by that time, I'll be hunting, and fishing to provide for my family and have some awesome stories to tell. I love what you Sarah and your whole entire family and friends do. God bless you all, and i love and appreciate you and everything you do!

If I'm the only one using the pan I want to use and maintain cast iron but when others are involved (who aren't OCD about upkeep) the non-stick would be my choice, even though I'm scared of the coating. Aluminum scares me too. You guys bring a taste of life to my relatively house-bound existence and so I thank you. There will come a bittersweet day when I'm not a care giver and I'll head straight out the door for a fresh combo license. Bless you all.

Nothing beats cast iron if it’s properly cared for. It takes time to break in a new pan that’s why a lot of people give up on it. Never wash with soap or water. Only use heat and oil to clean it. For a new pan even if it’s pre seasoned I use a random orbit sander on it for an hour or so till the bottom is smother than silk. Start with 60 grit and end with 420 grit. Then heat it up with oil and fry bacon 8 or 10 times before you use it for anything else. To clean crusty spots I use a stainless steel scrubbing pad and oil while it’s hot wiping it clean with a paper towel. Remember no soap and no water. Also heat your pan with oil every time before you put in any food to cook and it’s just like nonstick ceramic but it will never wear out. I have some pieces that are 100 years old or more. I love your shows! Thanks for all you do.

I am a fish taco lover and I like to take my corn tortillas and fry them real lightly in some peanut oil. It softens them and gives them a little crunch around the edges. Yellow corn tortillas are the best in my opinion. When you are done frying them lay them out on some paper towel to soak up any extra oil they have on them. Please let me know if you try it. And ya cast iron all the way! Love your videos they keep me in line when I can’t fish as much as I would like too. Thank you for all you do!

I've spent the last 46 years cooking fish at least three times a week. Cast iron all the way. And for those watching, if you want to know when your grease or oil is hot enough to drop your fillets in, take a pinch of the breading and drop it in the oil. If it's sizzles you are ready to go. You don't want to put the fillets in before the grease is hot enough or it will get mushy instead of crunchy.

Cast iron, of course!!! And it's a 2-way relationship. Frying fish IN cast iron is the best way to really enhance the 'seasoning' of the pan. Fry eggs (any way you want) the day after you used the pan for frying (I just dump the oil and wipe the pan well with a paper towel after I fry fish). Those eggs will slide around the pan as well as, if not better than any 'non-stick' coated pan.

I love this channel Rob. My wife and I are best friends and do everything together. I've grown up offshore fishing in Freeport Texas. I know all of the local guides and have ran their boats on occasion, used to supplement my income cleaning fish etc. I love to hunt too. My son killed his first deer when he was 10. We've got a robalo walk-around with Yamaha 250 on the back. Before that it was an old sea bird. All of the trout down here have those worms in them. And it's sad because they are such a fun fish to catch and delicious table fare. And to anyone watching, that is wondering, I'm sure he cut the part of the fillets out that had the worms in them. Usually they are not all over the entire filet. Now there are guys around here that eat them and say they don't care.. I know other guys who try to say those aren't worms they are just a little bacteria they get so they don't feel bad about eating them. But they are worms. When you pull them out you will see. LOL great channel to the arrington family. Hopefully we get to meet you guys one day.

Have to say I cook in both types but cast iron is hands down my favorite for most sorts of sauteeing and frying so long as what ever I'm cooking isn't too acidic . Its cast iron hands down for steaks in our house . Warm'em up to room temp with seasoning and slather with butter and salt . Dress the warm pan with some EVOO and when it gets smoking hot drop the steak in. Five to six minutes - less for venison or elk - a side or less or until it cooks loose ( depending upon thickness and desired doneness ) lift off the pan and set aside to rest for at least five minutes . Enjoy ! I've got a 14" deep cast pan I use to make jambalaya, rissole and a veg/hamburger/sausage/elbows/tomatoes mix in tomato sauce with lots of garlic and peppers . ( great kids comfort meal ! ) Great with venison too ! Add some andouille or chorizo for a little taste pop !

Hey, Rob! Next time you make a Fish tacos video, try making a sweet coleslaw and put it on the tortilla, kind of like a bed for the fried fish to lay on. Season the fish with some of your everglades favorites and make the crispiest frying batter you can think of. Finely chop some cilantro with thin sweet onion slices, sprinkle a lil lime juice on top, then tell us how that piece of art tastes!

The type of pan to use really depends on what you're cooking. I never use my cast Iron skillets to cook anything that has a high liquid content. Oils are ok but broth, water or milk seems to degrade the finish if cooked too long. I do have a deep covered dutch oven type skillet that I do use for braising or cooking stew type meals but even then it often needs a finish coat of seasoning afterwards.
