Nice quick release ;) Don't want to handle them too much of course. It is a struggle being a short man in cold water. The pain is real. Some people drop a beat, others drop their guts, Robbie drops his worms. Great explanation of upstream bait drifting. i like to use a similar approach with bread, corn, shrimps and mudeyes. What a lovely brown the first one was. Both were lovely, but that first one had great colour.

Love me trout fishing, 1 thing I change though when using worms is I change directions and fish down stream. A very lightly grease line, no weight and allow the worm a line to flow with the stream. I still fish the pools but instead of casting into the pool I'll land just before it and let the current take the line in. If the pool as a bit of depth i just hold the line for a second which drags the line down ward due to the current then release again. Had much better success with this method when using worms is stream fishing.

Hello mate, I grew up in Oz and loved fishing. Now,there is a better technique than what you are currently doing and it would help you to pick up more bites. I notice you cast upstream and then wind in as it approaches you. Instead of doing this, take off the weight leaving just the worm, stand at the head of the pool and leave your bail arm open after casting, letting the current take the worm at it's own pace to the bottom of the pool. Use your finger on the spool to trap the line to both control the line coming off and also to set the hook when you get a bite. The addition of a small pencil float,(small enough for the weight of the worm to cock it) will greatly improve your bite detection. Hope this helps you to get more tight lines mate!!
@robbiefishing5 жыл бұрын
Hi mate thanks so much for the great tip and thanks for watching.
@mybiodegradablesoul5 жыл бұрын
@@robbiefishing No worries at all mate, fyi in England, where I currently live thetechnique I described is called trotting, is decades old and has more than one style. I should have added that for deeper pools you can use split shot evenly spaced down the line, (called shirt button pattern, for faster water you would bulk it closer to the hook) to get the worm down faster. Use enough weight to sink the float completely at first and gradually raise it up the line to find the depth, then set your hook a couple of inches or so above bottom then use enough shot to leave around 1 inch of the float above the water. If you need any more clarification mate, just drop me a line and I'll be glad to give you some more info. I'm actually going to not only keep watching your output mate, I'll be subscribing.( the redfin fishing brings back lot's of happy memories from being a kid, I was in NSW and fished both the Maquarie and Lachlan Rivers and a couple of small creeks and some lakes. Also caught a few yellowbelly but never got a cod. It was truly mesmerising to see you catch one using cheese. Kudos to you mate. I also enjoy the trip down memory lane with the yabbying videos mate, I was a meat on cotton with a net made from my Mum's tights kid lol.

Hi Robbie your videos are great, I have learnt a lot from them. You mentioned in one video that you use 30 - 50 lb braid line on you bait caster. Can you give me your recommendation for my baitcasters, I have two, I plan to have one as a heavier rig and one as a lighter rig. I guess these line weights are to assist when casting rather than pure line strength. Also can you advise the best colour for general use please. Cheers.
