You should use a small snap swivel with your spinner to prevent line twist.

You are right, PM’s are the best because you can slow roll and the blade will still spin, as long as the wire is good and straight. In fact, Rooster Tail and Mepps must think PM’s are pretty good too, because they’ve copied their design in some of their product lines-which are better than their originals 😂@@weswarden2216

I love throwing my rooster tails. Caught me some nice smallies last year in upstate NY. Been meaning to pick up some Joe's flies
@ohmsweethohm72594 жыл бұрын
Joe’s fly makes a super stricter series now that are weighted. They work great, I also still use the unweighted as well bc they have a more natural look & catch fish!

I like yer videos ........tho I still don't understand why you " cast right hand , and fish left hand ". Tho what ever works for ya. I use and have used " MEPPS " in-line spinners . Started in the early 60's. Roosters are copy of the " Original French Spinner , MEPPS " . They work , tho MEPPS has " five different Ultra Lite & Spin Fly offering . Almost 70 different combos. At just a fraction more in cost I' ll take the MEPPS over all. Still we all have our favs eh. Thanks , Tom Daytona Beach, FL .

I’m not used to seeing someone cast right handed then switch to left to hold rod and reel righty. I cast right and reel left to limit the rod changing in my hands

Really? I feel like I've seen so many YT videos and it's pretty common. I reel left

It kinda depends where you live its more common to switch hands on the east coast but in the west coast they dont really switch hands

If he ever nearly loses a rig while fumbling around switching hands, he'll learn how to retrieve left handed. Bass of a lifetime taught me... and he got away. Of course.

Great vid, I 1st started using the Rooster Tails as a kid in the mid 70s. They were not available in AZ at the time but I spent the summer in WA and I loved them, brought a bunch home and later you could get them everywhere. I have a ton now of every size but now are 2nd place only cause I've been making my custom spinners for 20 years now but they are still my main backup and always will. Joe's Flies in addition to how you used them many trollers like a weightless spinner behind flashers, dodgers, bottom bouncers. Again enjoyed, tight lines.

What is the line weight rating of that Lew's rod? A 6'8" medium seems like way too much rod for for those trout, fast tip or no. I fish a 6'6" Fennwick light, 4-8lb rod with a 2000 reel for similar fish and conditions.

No doubt Joe's flies work well but I had too many trout swallow that tiny tail treble way too deep and it shredded their throats. Rooster tail makes a wide range of weighted lures with a single hook . They're my absolute fav. Just wish they made saltwater hooks, they catch ocean fish too but rust quickly.

Great videos, do you ever use leader with lighter pound test on more pressured fishing areas. Is it catch and real ease season there. Rarely see people in your vids. And I wonder is that why 6 pound test works so well for you.

Run a ball bearing swivel 12"-18" above your spinner and it'll help immensely with line twist. I learned the hard way and lost some favorite lures.

I do the same thing. I think it’s because I started out using closed faced spin casters with the handles on the right-then once I started using open face it was ingrained. I’ve seen folks hold the reels, of both kinds, backwards and reel in reverse also, so the hand switching doesn’t seem that peculiar in comparison 😂
