thankyou mate! ive been having a crack at the carp lately and ive been finding them harder to take than trout. Im going to hit the local lake and see if i can snag me one using the drag n drop. Love the fact you are sharing your fly fishing knowledge. Its such a great pastime /sport that gives anyone that gives it a crack a lifetime of thrills n spills! Onya Bro!

They are quite challenging. That's the fun. When you have been getting rejected all day and then latch into a 10-15lb fish, it's surreal.

Sweet tip! It is the "offseason" now in the Netherlands, so we can't fish for predator fish like pike, but we can fish for carp! I've never done it until today. I didn't catch jack. I did not realize their zone was so small, holy crap. That's a tall order, getting the fly that tiny window, while the fish is moving - but this tip will help. Thanks!

Exactly the technique I’ve been using. Deadly effective, I do want to try and get them on topwater worked flies.

What is the length of your leader when doing the drag and drop method for carp?

On Texas lakes carp surface a lot. Would you still bottom fish - drag and drop, or switch to dry flys or corn?

Can you recommend me a 7ft 6 or 7 weight fast action rod for carp? Not too much options here in Europe for that kinda stuff. And could you also Name me a good setup for a shooting head or shooting line which includes a short heavy shooting head and how much it should weigh? As I would like to try out a shooting head as the many false casts always spook them even if the line doesn’t hit the water they see something flying above them in the air and are careful. I think a shooting head might work well there too. Maybe ;) Or which line you prefer for carp ?

The water is muddy where I,m going, you never see the fish, tailing, or feeding, where I,m going, rarely even bubbles, but I catch them on sweet corn, so I know they are there, I guess, random drag and drops right?

What about your fly line? It's landing in front of the fish too. Wouldn't that spook em?

These videos make it look easy, when it’s a long cast and or really stained water it’s impossible to see your fly hit that “ window”. But when it’s clear and you can see it, oh yea , it’s like heaven. And to the disgusting part, I used to think that way also. But I really don’t catch fish to eat any more anyways, because we have have polluted about all our lakes and streams. So why not spot and stalk a fish that will truly test your abilities, mentally and with a fight better then 99% of the fresh water fish your going to find. Your ( iam) going to release them anyways.

Here’s a great tip don’t drop the fly right in front of the carp, carp swim in a straight line, so if you drop the fly two feet in front of the carp you won’t spook it and the carp will still see your fly because remember they swim in a straight line
