I just got mine before winter hit here in the Pocono Mtns of PA. Only had to use it twice for a 6" and a 10" storm. This thing is an absolute beast!! My first blower and I made the right choice with Troy-Bilt. I'm gonna get their 21" 140cc self propelled mower too.

I have the 26” x 243cc. I run only proper gas in it and the machine is stored inside the garage. Does a great job with the snow. Paid about $1300 and I registered it with a 4 year warranty.

Very helpful to me. I had to learn a whole new vocabulary and this video really helped reading through the assembly instructions with better vusuals than the instructions figures.

So, they eliminated the super bright light that’s needed after 5 PM? I have the 2620 storm. I love it. But, something as simple as a light to illuminate the path is critical. Eliminating it was a bad choice.

Hello! I bought this snow blower a few weeks ago, and we finally got enough snow for me to use it this week. I've never owned a snow blower before, and was terrified to ruin something since it ain't cheap, and I also don't know anyone else who owns one. I watched this video, and your subsequent Performance Test video, and cleared my driveway for the first time with no problems. Thanks so much! ❤

I just bought this snowblower and this was helpful! Thank you. I'm not a small engines expert by anymeans so this was good. My only question is about the oil. I haven't tested mine yet but would like some oil on hand anyhow. I'm see 10w 30 is recommended but others have said 5w 30. Does that truly matter?

Hi there. My Troy bit 2420 is only one winter old. It has enough fuel. But once it starts, it doesn’t stay on. Please help.
@victorl88043 жыл бұрын
Would using regular BP gast station fuel 87 octane damage it if used? Also what kind of oil do you recommend for this model. Thanks!
@theshopprojects3 жыл бұрын
Hey Victor, thanks for checking out my video. Most gas stations have gas mixed with ethanol, which can damage engines over time. If you use regular gas in a snowblower this year and go to start it next season, it could start hard and just not run as it should. Lately, I've been trying to avoid ethanol altogether in small gas engines. As far as oil, the owners manual tells what oil to use based on the temperature where the machine will be used. I'm using 5W-30. Hope this helps!
@paulmysliborski48323 жыл бұрын
For any ethanol fuel used, always treat it with a good stabilizer BEFORE adding it to the machines tank. (Mix the stabilizer with the gas in your gas can). You will be fine doing this during the course of the winter, but don't trust the stabilized ethanol gas for summer storage. Get that crap out of the machine completely, and use TrueFuel as stated. Ethanol is the #1 enemy of all small engines today, and if you only use a gallon or two a season, you might want to run the TrueFuel year-round. The drawback to this is that ethanol gas is about $3.50 a gallon, while the TrueFuel is around $20 for just under a gallon. The choice is yours, but the bottom line is that ethanol will ruin a fuel system if left untreated.

Thanks for the video. Did you have any issues putting it in reverse? I just got mine and the lever wouldn't go into the 2 reverse positions. I adjusted the linkage according to instructions and the lever would go into the reverse positions but in R-1 it goes forward.

I bought mine about the same time you did. What was your solution for the oil drain spout being about 2" shorter than the chassis? Do I just tip the blower back as far as I can and be ready with a funnel? Stupid design.

All snow throwers are great. What I need to know is how well does it handle the snow from the road that the truck throws on to your driveway. Those first 3-4 feet from the street are the only thing that matter. I'm thinking about buying this.

John, unfortunately I haven't had the chance to test it yet, because it hasn't snowed so far this winter. When/if it does, I'll definitely do a performance video. Thanks for checking out my review.
@paulmysliborski48323 жыл бұрын
This 2420 will go through the snowplow pile, but expect it to take a little longer than bigger machines. The 208cc equates to about 7hp. Plenty of power for small/medium jobs, but just allow a bit more time at the end of the driveway.
@Really108012 жыл бұрын
It sounds like the Troy-Bilt Storm 2420 is a very good machine, but not all snowblowers are, some of them are real junk that fall apart within the first year of use, unlike lawnmowers, which are more consistently reliable. Definitely read a lot of reviews before selecting a brand/model of snowblower... I have and will probably buy the Troy-Bilt Storm 2420 .

This particular model used to be around $599.00 in late 2020. I bought it for $699.00 a couple months ago but now its retail at $899.00 which is completely absurd. There are better products are out there with more features for $899.00. Otherwise, its a great product with basic functions.

Not a good video unless it is tested on significant levels of snow. I can learn everything he said by looking at the instruction book or going online. Real time test with heavy snow would be the best. So I give this video a two star.
