Some truly fantastic items here. I grew up in Milwaukee and still live there and while we had busy larger stations nothing this intriguing. Thanks much for showing these old classics and their final days. The last day of that Tower was also. My 6th birthday. 7\27\63

Fantastic thanks for bringing us this lost RR history, I'm 56 now and started railfanning the B&M with my older brother in 1975 around Boston,Lynn,Salem,Peabody,Beverly,Danvers,Wakefield,Newburyport and after 1988-2000 almost all of those Ops. are gone. thanks for preserving some RR history !

This is likely some of, if not the only existing footage of this line during this particular era. I was never aware of this joint operation between these railroads.

My paper route started at Sixth & Fulton across from the train station. I remember the train station and tower two at Grand & Sixth Ave. The guy in the tower would drop a line with a bucket and I would “deliver” the paper. I lived on 8th & Jacob and remember the gate house at Jacob & 6th. One of the gate keepers was Jack. On real cold days he would let us wair in shed for the 5th Ave. bus.

Absolutely great footage for 8 mm! Brings back so many memories especially of the B&M; saw so many of these passenger trains pass my grandma's house in Hoosick Falls but I never did get to Troy while the station was there. Thanks for sharing!

I really enjoyed your film on Troy Union Station. What a shame it was torn down. The area now looks empty without the railroad there. What a shame. Such a beautiful station and rr area. Now, like everywhere else it is starting to look like Disney Land. I miss the old days that were more real than today. Thank you for sharing this great film.

What incredible foresight to have taken these movies. Excellent lensmanship as well - and terrific narration. What a great look back into that time. And how stupid (IMO) to have thrown all that away.

I worked at ALCo as a lad in my 20's, the best job I ever had, loved working on the engines. One of the last surviving employees not drooling in the corner.

The Troy Beale family had a LOT of railroad men -- generations of uncles, grandfathers, etc,. I wonder of any of them were in this film. Well, maybe my Uncle John Beale (Bank St), but this was filmed too late for the others, his uncles, etc.

I wonder what ever happened to all of these classic train models. If my grandfather was still here, he would have known all about this. Too bad he passed away in ‘95!🥲🚂
