this might be alot of oversharing but i think the message in this song is important. sounds crazy but i owe everything to this song. 8 weeks ago, i was living in croydon (shitty place home to the worst of the london riots in 2012) going nowhere, stuck in a dead end job that i turned up late to every day, just ended a 2 year relationship with the most damaging girl on the planet, moved back to my mum's for the first time since dropping out of music university and i was smoking about 7 or 8 spliffs a day. i was out driving one night with a friend of mine, both pretty stoned and he puts this song on. the lyrics at the start of this song caught my attention and spurred a conversation about the fact life wasn't going anywhere. the next day i dumped the rest of my weed, arranged to move away and start fresh. i moved 4 weeks ago, not touched booze or weed since, got a trainee manager job at a huge company, first day without my supervisor tomorrow managing a customer services department, warehouse department and factory containing 150 employees. first payslip came through today and apart from sending some money back to my mother to help out, the rest of it has been saved and so will my future paychecks and i've taken up my music again. you may be thinking how is this relevant to a trap song? its not, but the message in the lyrics speaks truth, if you aren't willing to dedicate time and energy to making something of yourself, life is just going to shit all over you. if you want something, find a way of making it happen, human's are one of the most intelligent species on the planet, there's no excuse for not applying yourself to life. i gave up everything i'd built in a place i'd lived for 15 years, but i found motivation and drive. that's worth alot more than a shit job, shit girlfriend and shit lifestyle.
