Smooth switch of the rotor lol i dont remember when taking it apart there being a drill and slotted rotor lol. Great video though. I just had my lower ball joint seperate from my lower control arm and my cv axle came out from the intermediate shaft... The cv axle boot was stil attached. But i guess ill know the full extent of the damage once i get my parts in and start removing the upper control arm and tie rods. But this video has been super informative. Although i did go with the gsp cv axle as for some reason on the acura tl forums TRQ didnt have a good reputation. 😢 But i give your videos an A+

Ever get a stuck axle rip the axle off of cv bearing tear off boot put back in and use vice grips so it wont slide out and pull it right off

For me It worked by putting a long pry bar above the j pipe (between the shaft and the j pipe) and hammering it. The beginning of the pry bar was below the transmission and I had enough room to hammer it.

This will definitely work on my 2010 Acura RL not many videos of the car it's self or cheap parts online 😂, Im doing the passenger side as well but where did you get the axle from. I'm trying not to use a used axle from the junkyard thanks man great 👍 video for me

To remove the axle, I borrowed a slide hammer with the fork style axle removal tool from an auto parts store. Wrapped a shirt around the hammer for extra speed. Came right off in 3 slides.

What would cause the axle to pop out after a few hundred miles. Is it likely to be the circlip, after market driver side cv axle, original engine mounts for 05 acura tl. It's happened on Honda's watch and my own. Should I get another brand or original? Great video! I like the socket sizes and torque settings. Perhaps a summary page of tools and settings to snap shot to have right next to you. Nothing worse than lugging a garage of tools you don't need. Thanks.

same question i have cause some videos they say 32mm this video and a few others are saying 36mm..

So I guess you do not have to remove the exhaust pipe. The Helm book said to remove it. But glad to see you dont have to. Just as long as the axle comes out of the spline socket/transmission socket

Guess I missed something. Looks like the axel you took out had a shaft carrier bearing on it and the new one did not.

When removing the axle nut you do not have to use the punch and hammer technique. Simply place the 36mm socket onto the axle nut and begin to loosen it. This will cause the "dimple" to be raised as he does with the punch n hammer technique. It takes more time and is unnecessary. When reinstalling the axle nut and after having tightened nut to specifications then this is the time when you can employ the punch and hammer technique to punch the dimple into its resting place. This is acaafety matter its crucial the nut is property tightened and dimple set. This will keep the axle nut from coming loose while driving and thereby increases vehicular safety.

Notice the degree of angle the cv has to make as he installs it into the steering nuckle/hub assembly? As a experienced veteran mechanic, over 4 decades of professional automotive repair, I caution the DIY'er on the idea of using this manner of installation. The degree of angle in the Cv joint itself is too much and it could result in damaging joint itself internally which will mean replacing the axle before you ever get to use it. The proper way to install this axle also has to do with the okd axles removal. This step wasn't covered in this video. Simply remove the bottom nut on the steering nuckle. Once thats done use the prybar, placing it between the knuclkle and lower control arm then using hammer smack the steering nuckle with your hamer until you begin to see separation. Then prying downward on the lower control arm with pry bar you then remove the ball joint and hub assembly combination from lower control arm. Next step is to remove the brake caliper and pads susoending ut with a bungy cord, rope, etc to ensure you dint create a leak or tear in the brake hose Once this is done you can simply grab the lower side of the steering knuckle and pull it toward you. It will give you more room to install the axle without the potential of damaging the new CV jointed axle before you actually have an opportunity to use it.
