For those that choose to follow this guide, check your brake fluid level after finishing the process for both wheels. Brakes are a sealed system that maintains fluid level unless a change is made, like opening the bleeder and pushing out the fluid. Make sure to use the proper brake fluid type, it should be listed on the reservoir cap and /or in the owners manual. An additional tip as seen in the video but not mentioned, apply a thin coat of anti-seize to the wheel hub face and centering hub before putting on the rotor.

As the previous comment I had the same issue with the e-break semi welded to the rotor and it would not come off. I figured out why. They actually missed a step. You need to remove the rubber plug on the rotor and position it to the bottom get a flashlight look through the hole and locate the e-break set screw it has notches you need a small flathead screwdriver that fits through the hole and you need to turn that screw. It will make click sound. I think it was down to loosen the e-break pads away from the rotor and it will come off easily. Keep turning the screw till it comes off easily. If it doesn’t turn the screw the other way. I forgot which way. I did my other side and it worked. But when installing new rotor turn the screw back so that the e-break pad just going to touch the rotor. Turn the rotor by hand to listen and feel if there is resistance.

This is a great detailed video of brake repair, have a question about my 2012 camry Hybrid ABS, I always backed up fluid to reserviour in old cars but now I hear this can be a problem with these new computerized brake systems and I see you bleed when retracting piston is this what is done with newer cars? Thank you for helping us.

Do you have to back off the handbrake before removing the disc?

So he puts a light coat of grease UNDER the sliders which serve almost no purpose. You want the light coat of grease on the sliders so the pads tabs/ends/wings are lubricated when they move

Haha.😂😂 Every Toyota I have ever done rear brakes on had the rotor semi welded to the ebrake shoes and was a literal nightmare to try to remove. This chooch just pulls it off like he was pulling a tissue out of the box. Must have been a brand new car?
