Very good video. Thanks for doing it. I just wanted to mention that I was able to replace the radiator on a 2015 Highlander without opening the A/C system. I removed the battery and got a little extra room to lean the radiator back and pull the condensor forward and up to separate them. I removed the lower bushings on the radiator and also the bracket that holds the hard AC line (kind of behind passenger side headlight) to allow it all to move a little more.

I just replaced the radiator on a 2016 highlinder 4 cylinders, I didn't need to disconnect the condenser line. Please note that the four cylinders don't have the transmission lines connected to the radiator, so don't worry about dealing with transmission fluid. Read all the comments. There are a lot of good tips from people. The whole process wasn't that bad.

Great video! Thanks! I was able to remove/install the radiator without removing removing the condenser lines. I cut off the ends of the lower T-shaped brackets on the radiator, and the condenser slipped right off. I installed the radiator without the lower bushings to let it set lower and allow the condenser to clear the radiator T-shaped brackets. Then I installed the bushings.

Thanks for posting this. the only other video that I saw had a guy removing the bumper and half the car in the front.. Now to the bad and the ugly which just about everyone else commented on below me.. As soon as you undid the condenser lines I was expecting a blast of freon, good thing I know about that stuff. If you have a guy who doesn't know watch your video you just cost him an extra 450 dollars or possibly more to vacuum the A/C system and add freon back into it..

Informative video. I always research. Saves time and materials. 37 years doing it and still don't know it all. Saves lots of head scratching. Dig the hair.😊 23:40

I don’t think opening the condenser is necessary to change the radiator! Never heard of that. Someone commented that they did it without opening it up. Why would you want to open up the AC if not necessary ???

Great video! Love the detail, all the way down to how to remove clips! He does mention in the beginning to evacuate your ac...but...as the other reviewer mentioned, there is no need to open the ac and remove the condenser. I was able to separate the radiator and condenser without removing the battery or the ac bracket the other reviewer mentioned. I did have to remove the lower bushing and with someone helping and holding the radiator at the tip we were able to wiggle the radiator out.

Do not follow the steps you just saw on this video. I've been a mechanic for 14 years and you never ever remove the condenser before recovering the refrigerant. It's a step you dont need to do unless you had a front end collision and the condenser is damaged. I just did this job on my friends 2014 highlander. I did it on my driveway. No need to lift the vehicle, everything is done from the top. First step is to remove the top plastic cover and the metal plate on top of the radiator, then remove upper radiator hose, remove fan assembly, after that you can access the coolant drain, drain the fluid, disconnect transmission cooler lines at the transmission side and cap off. Remove lower radiator hose. Then wiggle the condenser up and the radiator will be free, remove radiator and install new radiator in reverse order. Took me around 40 minutes.

Excellent video. Had a piece of road debris puncture both the radiator and condenser the other day and had to replace. Unfortunate, but makes the job easier when all of the freon and radiator fluid was lost on the highway already.

Did you take out Freon from condenser before opening those lines?

Excellent video but like the others when I disconnected the condenser all the Freon leaked out. I recharged it and good to go

no need to remove the condenser lines, and remove the battery for extra wok space. everything else is pretty straight forward.

So what’s stopping anyone from just tipping the old radiator back, and leave the condenser in place, then snapping back in after new radiator is installed? Isn’t there plenty of room to do just that?

Why didn’t your ac condensers blast open and leak freeon when you removed the condenser lines?
@dylanguedry24667 ай бұрын
How about a heads up before you have people empty out the freon from the compressor. Its a totaly pointless step. Leave the compressor in. I have to pull vaccum now. Thumbs down.

And you skip past hooking the Ac lines up. How about a warning. So we’re all screwed on having ac and it 110 outside.

I took of the line of the condenser and alot came out

Freon is a toxic and dangerous gas that should only be handled in professional and controlled environments. Do not mess with your condenser. In earlier models it is easier to access and remove radiator without touching the condenser.

So many steps…lol

Disconnecting the A/C lines from the condenser before you vacuum your A/C system will release refrigerant into the atmosphere. Instead you should have tried to remove the radiator without touching the condenser, you're making the repair more expensive. 😞

Now how do I get my free on lines to stop leaking. I tightened still leaks. What parts do I need to re seal the leaks properly man. We’re not mechanics with a shop here. Please warn the public. We’re not rich.

Wish i would have read the comments first!!! No need for taking off the fuckn comdenser line!! Just more work now sheesh… lol 8:28

This are bad and dangerous video, don't remove that condense pipe from the radiator, if you haven't release the air and refrigerant in safety tank.

So cheap. Be careful taking the grill off. Don’t pry The tabs until you lift up the center circle. Then pry up on the outer circle ring after the center is pulled up of you will break them. The tabs on the inside are plastic don’t bend too hard or you will break them.

Danger at your own Risk. Do not try to fix your radiator unless your ready to fix the AC with freeon. Or see a transmission service. and there’s no way to measure if you have the right amount of trans fluid. So you should take this video down. Asap 😡this isn’t a funny joke !!! Regular people like me can’t even replace the transmission. Fluid either. Unless you have a torque wrench and move the tire off
